    Pros

This company is still primarily a domestic organization based in and providing products to America. They have continued to survive for over 100 years, so if you add value and keep your mouth shut, there is good likelihood that you can find longer term employment. Decent, but not the best, pay and benefits.

    Cons

Many years of downsizing has put pressure on survivors, so the ability to work in a stressful, 24/7 environment is essential if you want to work there. The financial group runs the company and is only concerned with the bottom line. They are losing/have lost their ability to listen to employees.

    Advice to Management

Quit smiling so much and listen more.

    Pros

Flexible career paths, ability to develop leadership skills through employee resource groups, generally good co-workers, nice location in the West Loop

    Cons

Employee morale varies by department, remnants of the "old boys club" still lingers, talks the big talk about diversity but the demographic make up of mid to senior management tells a different story

    Approves of CEO

I worked at USG full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Did not require great experience to get transferred to a new job. If person showed ability if was easier to get a different job.

    Cons

Company had a very hard attendance program. It was very easy to get fired for tardiness or absenteeism. Denied sick days because the company thought it promoted absenteeism.

    Advice to Management

Company projects were often pushed before employees had a chance to appreciate. Programs were often changed before they were understood. Often promoted negative attitudes.
