I worked at USG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is good. They give nice bonuses. Management is pretty good too. The HR is excellent here. They seem to care about lot about worker safety.

    Cons

The work hours are difficult. They did rotating shifts when I worked there. That made it difficult to commit to plans or attend school.

    Advice to Management

    Stop the rotating shift.

I have been working at USG full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people at USG care a lot about the work that they do and each other. There are a lot of career and development opportunities for employees that have the aptitude, are flexible, and are willing to work hard. People come to USG and stay for their careers.

    Cons

It is a cyclical business due to the connection to the building industry. Management is working hard to even out the impact of the cycles on the business, but there will always be some impact.

    Advice to Management

Continuing caring about employees and recognizing their good work.

I have been working at USG full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The plant i work at has over 1 million safe hours with no lost time injuries. There are many of our plants across the US that have 1 thousand plus hours with no lost time injuries. Focused on safety..... and it really is a safe place to work. I was hired into to company with no experience in this field. They train everyone who is willing. Lots and lots of advancement opportunities.

    Cons

Very very strict with attendance policy.

    Advice to Management

Keep your ears tuned to what your employees aren't saying. There's a lot to be heard in their silence. Spend more time one on one.....

I have been working at USG full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are more communications than ever before from the executive committee which definitely helps motivate employees. Lately our teams plan to win has created our own company recession recovery which has motivated all employees from senior executives to the operator level. We have seen our first pay raise in some time as promised and looking forward to the future with great faith in our executive leaders.

    Cons

Some USG location seem slow to adapt to new technology but getting better.
Still have unrealistic deadlines to meet which stunt project growth due to manpower shortages.

    Advice to Management

Continue the communications and try to speed up the adaptation of new technologies at all plants.
