    I worked at USS-POSCO Industries full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    I spent 30 years there and took a retirement and moved to tn it was a good career but I felt it was time to try something different

    Cons

    The shift work is difficult changing every week to a different shift

    Pros

    Good engineering experience working on multiple platforms from several vendors.

    Cons

    With two parent companies is not always easy to convince both to see eye to eye.

    Pros

    Positive experience. Got a good look at the steel industry. Learned about manufacturing and process improvement.

    Cons

    Slow. Not too much work. People are not motivated.

    Advice to Management

    Encourage teams a little more. Be more direct and have more involvement in the day to day tasks of the people who you hire to make a difference.

    Healthcare costs relatively low with coices

    Cons

    Commute, economy driven business. Shift work 24 hour operation

    Pros

    Great work environment, nice people, lots of cool machine to see and learn.

    Cons

    Not that many big projects for freshment or junior engineers to be involved. Even if there is, managers take them all and give small tasks to engineers.

    Pros

    I love my job pays good have good benefits and I like most people I work with.

    Cons

    Certain managers have their own little regime and if you're not in it they're completely against you.

    Advice to Management

    Treat everybody the same. Quit trying to police everyone and pay attention to Quality and Preventive Maintenance. There's a reason we went from number 1 to the bottom of the totem pole.

    Pros

    i enjoy working here. The pay is good and the benefits are also good. Overall I would recommend working here.

    Cons

    There is not a lot of cons working here. As long as you can get passed the shift work and rotating schedules.

    Pros

    Machine Shop Personnel are Excellent to work with & for in a repair Machine shop for a steel rolling mill & we always strive for Excellent communication among, machinists & management of the shop, then always tried to get open communication from the other depts we serviced...

    Cons

    Always problems between Steelworkers Union & Company & have just heard of the next wrench in the Company following US Steel's Policy, Holding wages at a flatline below the San Francisco Bay Area, wage standard; while tearing down its Medical Coverage of its employees; putting even more burden on the employees, trying to stay afloat living in the Bay Area & the Union is so very weak at 1440 Local...This is no way to bring in new employees or treat existing employees...

    Advice to Management

    You say that you appreciate your employees, but have created such deep disenchantment, animosity & disbelief among your employees; it is why many who can including me, have left working for you; under these conditions, can't afford to live in the Bay Area...

    Pros

    Lots of autonomy for starting and running projects; Good benefits; very safety conscious culture;

    Cons

    Slow to implement programs and hard to sustain forward movement. Leadership often fails to provide clear vision/mission which affects culture and performance negatively.

    Advice to Management

    Engage with all employee levels on more than just financials and yield numbers. Help employees feel valued and provide purpose.
