      LOVE UTD but not the hiring process

      Pros

      UTD is a wonderful group of employees and students. The environment at UTD is ideal for everybody, it's filled with dedicated hard workers who are friendly and helpful.

      Cons

      The school seems to be more Liberal than you'd expect for the area. Working for UTD part-time does nothing to help you make it up to full time; if anything it seems to be a disadvantage. There is such a formal system that department heads have very little decision making ability in terms of who they hire.

      new campus with clean facilities for the science, not so much for everything else.

      Cons

      lab layout not catered to individual research tasks, buildings built without consultation from people working there. graduate students have to pay for health insurance because we are part-time. other universities supply it for STEM major graduates, it's Texas, what did you expect?
