    Flexible, fun, and interesting

Nov 15, 2022 - Standardized Patient (SP) in Dallas, TX

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Flexible schedule (you don't have to work any events you don't want to), great team environment with friendly coworkers and supportive supervisors, fun to pretend to be a patient and work with medical students as they learn, many different opportunities and programs that are part of the simulation center to participate in, interesting opportunity to learn more about the medical field behind the scenes, requires no experience

    Cons

May not be a good fit for extreme introverts, no guaranteed number of hours so those needing a more steady source of income may need to look elsewhere, only part time so no benefits

    Pros

I worked at UT Southwestern for 8 years. I loved the benefits, like free healthcare for employees. Yearly merritt raises.

    Cons

If you are having Mental Health issues, and are stuggling, UT Southwestern is quite literally the worst place to work for. No support from anyone other than just call EAP and they wipe their hands clean of you. Should you show signs of any mental health issues, my chronic migraines contributed to my depression and I was only on FMLA for the migraines. As soon as my production took a hit from me struggling and not being able to speak to anyone in regards to my issues because the management made sure to take one thing I said and turned it into a fireable offense instead of helping me and proving me with the support I needed. So make sure you keep up with your FMLA and document EVERYTHING. If your management has any video confrences with you, make sure they are recorded. As management will lie if they do not have anything other than your word against theirs. When it is a team of 2 supervisors and the manager who ends up getting promoted to department director they will all stick up for each other, which i can't blame them, the director of the department leads with fear, no mercy, no grace. All their good workers leave and they get repplaced with problematic people who just suck up and rub the director's ego to stay on their "good side." It's ALL politics at UT Southwestern it's not WHAT you know it's WHO you know and WHO's friend you pretend to be. If you are told negative things about a department, LISTEN the reason there are negative things said about those departments is because management is BAD and if you have mental health issues and are in one of "those," departments your mental health will only get worse. People will not leave management that treats them well.
