    Pros

This large corporation has been taking steps to improve corporate culture with more team building and social activities and by providing better flexible work schedules. I have also noticed an increase in training opportunities. I like the process oriented and continuous improvement focus at this company.

    Cons

Workload is decreasing and there are concerns about job security as a result. Most manufacturing has been pushed to lower cost locations.

    Pros

I have an amazing manager who really believes in work life balance. The company is finally starting to understand theye need to change things to keep good employees.

    Cons

Salaries aren't comparable to similar positions at other organizations. The culture has gone downhill in the last several years and continues to do so. Future is uncertain.

    morale is suffering

Dec 9, 2014 - Engineering in Riverside, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

-pays well for the area -flexible hours -beats not having a job -most coworkers are great to be around

    Cons

Since the buyout, the UTC management style has resulted in a morale that gets lower by the week. There have been many long-time employees that have left due to the unrealistic demands/expectations that have been established in corporate goals. -UTC has taken the Goodrich positive culture and made it impersonal and increasingly difficult to stay motivated.

Good Company, as long as ACE doesn't kill the positive culture

Jul 26, 2014 - Staff Engineer Materials in Chula Vista, CA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Company has great people knowledgeable about the product and technology that they are working on. Leadership strives to maintain the former Goodrich culture of trust and respect where possible Option for 9/80 or alternate work schedules to help facilitate work life balance

    Cons

Strong insistence on applying the ACE principals often leads to busywork to check the box and demonstrate that the appropriate policies have been followed with little additional value UTC policies are starting to drive out the positive culture of mutual trust and respect that Goodrich had developed

    Operations

Apr 15, 2016 - Operations Analyst in Oakville, ON

    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Great CI program. Better than the original GOS system. Very comparable to the Toyota Production System. The ACE program is very culture driven on the shop floor allowing employees to be trained as an associate and can register as a practitioner.

    Cons

Management is not always engaged. They talk it but don't walk the talk or lead by example. When things don't get done they blame the CI leaders for failure. Biggest miss is SLT sets stretch goals with CI leaders but do not hold their managers accountable.

    Cutthroat and Tense

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Pay and benefits decent. Some of the old time workers who built the success are still there.

    Cons

Rotten atmosphere and culture fostered by extremely ambitious managers who use people and throw them away. Worked there 10+ years when it was Goodrich Aero. Seen very senior, very competent people get dressed down publicly and then fired for politics.
