    Pros

Good vacation and holiday time off. Pay is competitive. Usually pretty flexible hours. Large company funding if you get the budget to spend. There are some very good people here.

    Cons

Continuous layoffs despite being drastically understaffed. Bloated upper management with multiple unnessessary levels of vice presidents, (My chain has: Manager, Director, VP1, VP2, VP3, President, CEO). Relies way too heavily on supply chain and globalization, creating a sluggish non-reactive company that struggles to get anything done. More red tape then any company you will find. Everyone is jumping ship because they know that UTC cares more about its quarterly stock price than actually making any money or creating anything of value. UTC buys great companies then hollows them out to make their return back.

2% Pay Cuts in 2016 - All UTC Aerospace Salaried Emps

Oct 7, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Chula Vista, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The Scholarship program is available to all employees which is a plus. Good internship program. The Cafeteria on site has a variety of foods to pick from.

    Cons

Too many layoffs the last couple years of long term knowledgeable employees. Expected to meet business goals without enough resources. Work/life balance is not possible at this time. Everyone is reacting to urgent needs to meet schedules/deliveries daily. Moral is low and now all the hard working employees will have 2% of their base pay reduced starting in Jan. 2016 for a year.

    Pros

The people are good and relatively easy to work with though the layoffs and financial squeeze have made the environment tense.

    Cons

Corporate restructuring and layoffs have people freaked out. Nothe sure how long this will continue. Not seeing new programs on the horizon which is worrisom.

    So much potential...

Jun 9, 2016 - Engineer in Riverside, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

UTAS has great technology, great support staff, supervisors and technicians. Exciting products and potential to be a world class manufacturer

    Cons

Completely inept, arrogant and self-serving middle management that only pays lip service to the operating system of the company and cannot grasp anything outside of their own limited understanding of lean manufacturing. Shunning, favoritism and very poor communication. The very definition of poor leadership. Recent layoffs as a result cost reductions.

Good people but "challenging" work environment

Dec 16, 2013 - Manager in Windsor Locks, CT

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Industry leader in aerospace with aggressive goals and growth potential. Lots of opportunity to find your niche and diversify your career. Many locations throughhout the world. Work force is diversifying with more young people being hired. Very few layoffs compared to the rest of UTC.

    Cons

Chronically understaffed and management reluctant to provide resources to meet company goals. With acquisition of Goodrich, Operations organization has been in constant flux. Some unrealistic expectations from Senior management who has little understanding of situation on the ground.

Slow, archaic company that is struggling with identifying themselves as a mfg company or a tech company.

    Pros

Huge company. A lot of opportunity to move around within if you are willing to relocate. Pays well (if you demand it). Extremely rare to have layoffs.

    Cons

You have to be willing to relocate to move up the ladder quickly; internationally and domestically. Very slow to get anything done, extremely risk adverse. Executive and senior management have no interest in developing relationships with employees below their grade.

Utc is for the money, people are now just a number.

    Pros

    Scholar program. It's a job.

    Cons

The atmosphere and morale has taken a steady decline, which was proven through the employee survey. They take and take. There is very little hope for advancement, something which they boast at the beginning of your employment. You can expect to lose advancement opportunity to an external applicant. Insurance benefits are sub par compared to Goodrich. They like to pile on responsibilities with no intention of compensation and if you refuse it will reflect poorly in your year end assessment. They promised no lay offs and we have had three separate group layoffs so far. They lie and think the workforce is too dumb to figure it out. We had decent management prior to the acquisition and now their attitudes have changed too, as if their hands are tied.

Get all by writting/Watchout for layoff

    Jul 6, 2015 - Anonymous Employee

    Business Outlook

    Pros

    - 401k Matching - Employee Scholarship Program. - ACE culture

    Cons

    - If you were to take the office of employment, you must all the fine print of the benefits. Not all benefit apply right away. - Management does not support employees development. Unless you selected for the leadership program. - You ideas of improvement go directly into a QCPC system. Management waits until the problem generates enough 'turnbacks' in order to address it. - There is no clear planning of the workforce. People could get layoff in one eek due to cut back, while the week before or after a new member gets on-board. - If you were looking for a long term career, think twice! Layoff are currently being made every quarter in order to achieve 'cash flow' expectation and investors dividends. - Workload and activities are not based on the actual needs of the business but more on the satisfaction of certain leaders.

    Pros

Well paid maternity/paternity leave. Generous with continuing education. Great opportunities to move up with constant and expected layoffs.

    Cons

Where to begin - annual layoffs, extended work hours with a 2% paycut, flavor-of-the-month CI initiatives. But hey, 2015 had millions of dollars in profit, so congratulations on pleasing stockholders.
