I worked at UTHealth full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Many groups in the university are a pleasure to work with. They work hard, collaborate well, have emotional intelligence, take pride in their work and are friendly. The work being done can be inspiring and you’ll always be learning new things. The benefits are great and the pay is ok.

    Cons

There are many units inside UTHealth that are professional and worth working for. The one where I was did not fit that description. As is the case for any job, beware of the smoke and mirrors from anybody who you will be working with/for. Interview them thoroughly as they interview you. If it sounds to good to be true... it probably is. My department would best be described as toxic.

    Advice to Management

If many people are leaving one area, look closely at why and who they report to and work with.

    Pros

They have great PTO, benefits and other compensations. The working environment is competitive and relaxed at the same time depending on the department you work for.

    Cons

The people at the top literally make off money by not paying you what you deserve. You may get increases every year but the value is unmatched
