I worked at UVA Health Services Foundation (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent salary, good colleagues, great benefits, interesting and rewarding work. Interesting to be a part of the University community. Beautiful campus.

    Cons

Pretty narrow range of opportunities as senior people do not often leave and therefore there is not much opportunity to move up. Great starter job.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to let employees move up and around. You don't lose anything for allowing more professional growth. If you don't, you will likely lose the best.

I worked at UVA Health Services Foundation full-time

    Pros

great career and knowledge builder, cancer center and kluge children are referred by me, great location, lots of different views and opinions. Hippa secured and computer technology is self explanatory ease to flow with and find what you need as well as records kept for very long time, lots of different backgrounds knowledge ,opportunity and connections to succeed well in life

    Cons

the commute and time wasted to park pay and ride bus just for work when you need or go to work to pay for necessities not more hassle worries and stress . they deserve it! the facility cant get any bigger its hard to find departments because of extensive building and constructions, you get turned around too easy and when your sick or hurt you dont want to deal with that

    Advice to Management

employees should not have to take their hard earned money and pay for parking to work for your company, you chose them and they have paid their debt to education and they dont get paid enough for what the economy demands, its a hard ridiculous struggle for our own kind and we are the ones that are the core to your success , as that said you can treat employees what better and be thankful and proud of them so to work for a company as fast demanding and well over millions you can pay for parking and all benefits

UVA Hospital is a great place to work. Room for advancement and involvement in committees on all levels. Loved working here, team work among my coworkers was great. Tuition assistance even paid for my bachelors!

Large corporation, things are slow to change but new management is changing that.

    Pros

It is a great company to work for. The staff is understanding and compassionate.

    Cons

You must be able to receive or ask for time off ahead of time. It is not enough staff to cover emergencies.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more. Allow for problems.

I worked at UVA Health Services Foundation part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people were good and the managers were very professional.

    Cons

IT services left much to be desired; I was unable to access the employee email or payroll systems without involving a manager and several calls to IT.

    Pros

good cafeteria. nice town to live in.

    Cons

Administration doesn't care about staff, especially nurses.

    Advice to Management

don't be so cheap. overhaul nursing admin- all the nurses are quitting. we can't take care of patients without nurses. they are the heart of the hospital- and protect the patients from physicians who are not paying atttention

I worked at UVA Health Services Foundation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility with assignments, worked with competent staff, and I was usually sent to a variety of units to get excellent working experience on.

    Cons

The upper management would often issue impractical rules or change what was already working fairly well for the staff. Most of the nursing units were understaffed on the night shift.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the floor staff and don't skimp on staffing for the nursing units.
