    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at UW Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Professional environment, research oriented, smart motivated people, fair compensation, staff strive to be patient centered.

    Cons

Slow to make positive change, complex environment for patients to navigate. Patient's treated as parts vs whole person.

    Advice to Management

Develop systems for whole patient care. It's more efficient and saves resources in the end. Develop a strategic plan around this concept. Current budgetary issues should not have been a "surprise".

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at UW Health part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Great health insurance

    - Average wages

    - Decent benefits package

    Cons

    - The managers are useless and say everything is "above their head."

    - The upper level management only seems to care about making money and not about employees or even patients for that matter.

    - The amount of policies and the policies themselves are ridiculous.

    - HR either doesn't respond at all or responds but isn't able to answer your questions/concerns.

    - Pay raises are hard to come by, and a decent raise is almost impossible to get.

    - The burnout rate is high and there is no work/life balance. Employees are extremely overworked and underappreciated.

    Advice to Management

Start caring more about your employees and they will be more willing to work hard and provide "remarkable health care."

I worked at UW Health part-time

    Pros

    Many great specialists at UW

    Cons

Recent changes in top leadership are turning a formerly community-oriented health organization into a very corporate atmosphere. Not a lot of happy physicians, advanced practice providers, and RNs there. They love the patient care aspects of their work, but many are increasingly unhappy with how they are treated by those in leadership and administrative positions. Unfortunately a very reactive organization; does not have the capacity to make proactive decisions.

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics. Treat your employees like they matter, because (a) they do, and (b) they are at the forefront of delivering care to patients. Walk a day in their shoes before making decisions.

I have been working at UW Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Annual Raises, benefits very good compared to other companies.
Good training, good management (at my site at least).
I do feel like a valued employee.

    Cons

I'm very fortunate to have good management at the clinic I work at, but I don't think this is the case everywhere.

    Advice to Management

Be careful with rising insurance costs and potentially taking away the annual raises people expect and deserve. Without these, you become Dean (where no one wants to work anymore).
