An amazing 22 year old Fintech start-up

* Ubiquity has over 22 years of experience in delivering highly valued retirement solutions to small businesses and their employees yet still moves quickly and decisively like a Fintech start-up * A company that delivers on its external and internal commitments * Great company culture * Colleagues are true retirement SME's, extremely dedicated, collaborative and fun to be with * A very high level of trust and confidence in each other * Promotes and practices true work/life balance * Clear, concise alignment of company mission, objectives and priorities * High levels of client, participant, advisor and partner satisfaction
Cons

constant improvement
Dec 20, 2022 - Anonymous-Current Employee in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
*The CEO is a good person: smart, reasonable, down to earth, warm, and makes you feel part of the team. It's not hard to want to support his vision. *They REALLY walk the walk when it comes to DEI. Most fintech biz is full of 30 year old straight white dudes. The employee makeup here is truly diverse, and I feel so much more at home and happy here. No corporate drones! *Senior leadership seems genuinely interested in employee satisfaction - they're constantly coming up with new surveys and then acting on the results. *Flat structure. It may look like there are levels when you examine the org chart, but anyone can talk to anyone. *Ubiquity is committed to career development. I have never worked anywhere that had so many employees who stay with the company and worked in so many departments for so long. You're encouraged to take development courses, trainings, etc., and to consider roles within the company before looking elsewhere.
Cons
Well, Ubiquity still considers itself a startup (after 23 years, that's a stretch), so not the most competitive salaries.

- flexible schedule - career opportunities - no micro managing - company perks are great- suck as wellness benefits, equipment reimbursements, sabbaticals and other rewards during important milestones.
Cons
- being a remote employee, I wish we had more opportunites to connect with people.

1. Working from home gives me the flexibility to focus on my family as well as work. 2. Management is wonderful- I have a 100% clarity on where I stand and what is expected of me. 3. We have an anual company meeting in beautiful San Francisco, it is a great time to get to know all the coworkers.
Cons
1. There are no real cons, I feel lucky to be a UBQT.

A place to Grow, Contribute and Participate
Mar 8, 2019 - Project Manager in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
"Ubiquity Retirement + Savings’ mission is to empower small businesses and their employees to create a more secure financial future and peace of mind, by leveraging technology with affordable and effective retirement solutions, and world-class customer support." The above is a relatively new description to an enduring sentiment that first attracted me to work for what was then the Theonline401k.com, ten years ago. I came here because wanted to help people on a daily basis and go home feeling like I had made a difference that day. The AARP says that 1/2 of all American workers (55 million people) have no access to a retirement savings plan through their employers. My company creates an opportunity for people who might not otherwise have a Retirement Plan to get one. This is something I was always able to get behind. In terms of making a difference, the culture at this company is great. This is a place where there is innovation and excellence and people who are smart and hardworking are recognized and given the opportunity to transform into even better versions of themselves. Diamonds are created here. In the ten years that I have been here, I have seen people transform, I have seen people thrive. What place does not have struggles? What place does not have conflict? The question is whether or not the infrastructure for success has been laid and the answer is simply yes. We have strong leadership in management and we have structures in place for changes to our systems, software and culture to be made in service to our goal of helping people and being amazing while doing it.
Cons
Because our dreams are big, we try to accomplish a lot in very little time.

A dream come true
Oct 18, 2013 - Project Manager in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They are flexible, encouraging visionaries who genuinely care for those they serve. Working here is working for retirement activists and consumer advocates. Leaders who can think and who work hard are rewarded in this organization. We have a flat organizational structure where people are encouraged to work together towards a common goal and individuals are expected to think critically and take initiative to be recognized. We have gigantic goals but we've always managed to achieve them. Our CEO is a superstar and my coworkers are golden. We have a culture of positivity and gratitude. Random acts of kindness are not uncommon here.
Cons
We have big dreams and so we have to work really REALLY hard to achieve them. For me, work/life balance can get blurry but I like working hard here because its for a good cause. We have customers with who either are inexperienced with 401(k) or are used to a more boutique experience and this can impact our workflows due to our large volume of activity. Things get especially lively (i.e. insanely busy) in the fourth quarter and last up until tax time the following year. You really are expected to grow here and if you aren't growing fast enough it can get uncomfortable. Adapt or perish. You really have to be comfortable with using technology as a resource here.

Business Development
Apr 14, 2015 - Business Development in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you work for a big company, you have a Retirement Plan, and therefore a convenient way to save for Retirement. If you work for a small company, you probably don't have a Retirement Plan, so you don't save for your Retirement. That's about 40 Million People who aren't saving for themselves, and their future. If that sounds like a problem you'd like to solve, and you're a curious, industrious, self-motivated free thinker who can simultaneously cooperate as part of a team, then we would love to have you.
Cons
The same of any small & growing company: prioritizing scarce resources and organizing ourselves to meet those priorities - all while listening to what customers are telling us about their needs and our ability to meet them. It's not an environment for people who want to avoid talking with people and dealing with problems.

Pros
- Flexibility in schedule and working from home - great perks: health, 401k, great PTO structure, wellness reimbursement, and U-Day's-- it's literally billed as a bad hair day, as well as a month's sabbatical once you hit your 5-year mark ) - mission-oriented team (our goal is to get every small business a retirement plan, and we make good on that promise by offering web-based, transparent solutions) - TONS of room for growth (your career is what you make of it here) - we're about to launch a brand new platform/technology that's going to catapult us into the future (and be a HUGE benefit for our Savers)
Cons
- the work from home structure sometimes makes the office feel a bit sparsely populated, but the other side of that coin is that our company is super flexible in allowing you to work from home.

A truly unique opportunity
Jun 7, 2018 - Anonymous Employee in San Francisco, CARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Ubiquity has a unique combination of start up’s high paced energy and the fiscal maturity of a financial services company that has survived the financial markets roller coasters for the past 19 years. I am surrounded by smart and hard working colleagues who are passionate about company’s wellbeing. As a working parent, the ability to work remote when needed is greatly appreciated.
Cons
Sometimes we run out of those organic blood oranges, it’s really terrible. On a serious note, as an employee who has been at Ubiquity for the past 8 + years, I have witnessed just how much our management strives to be transparent. If you don’t like something you can always raise your hand and ask.

VP of Brand + Creative
Apr 14, 2015 - Vice President of Brand + Creative in Portland, ORRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
For being what would be considered a more mature company, it's extremely fast-paced and entrepreneurial. We are consistently asked what kind of company we want this to be - and the entire company is part of making that decision collectively. Happiness is the continued focus, understanding that it is core to driving a business forward in the most innovative way. Let people be what they are at their best, and we all thrive.
Cons
Working remotely means not being able to be involved in all of the cool office activities. It's a work in progress. It'll be cool to see what comes of it.
