I have been working at Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

UIC currently has a great group of employees who are fighting to see it succeed. It is this group of loyal and hard working employees that make coming to work for UIC a rewarding one.
The compensation and benefit packages are very competitive.

    Cons

There has been a lot of re-organizing that is unsettling to many employees, but the execs who were released needed to go.
Hopefully with the new management, things will stabilize.

    Advice to Management

Connect the field workers and the employees in the L48 with the Parent Company and ensure that managers and supervisors have more accountability. Everyday. Also, the employees who are watching the numbers and know what is being spent when and where need more accountability as well.

    Pros

So far so good. There has been re-organizational changes, but they are good changes going in the right direction.

    Cons

Work/life balance is hard when you stay committed to the work you put in.

    Advice to Management

Keep trucking along with the changes. They are good changes.

I have been working at Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation full-time

    Pros

UIC offers an extremely generous benefits package; this includes company paid life insurance, short/long term disability, AD&D, and 401k matching. Not to mention the PTO schedule, which starts off at 4 weeks a year. They also have great insurance rates, and contribute up to 75% of the premiums on your behalf. In addition to the variety of benefits offered, UIC also provides an extremely competitive level of pay.

    Cons

I have no Cons to report.

I have been working at Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The benefits are great, the compensation is competitive and there are great people that work for this organization.

    Cons

Though there are struggles, I would not work anywhere else.

    Advice to Management

Onward and upward, keep those who came before you in your vision. Remember who you strive to serve and bring to the forefront.

    Pros

The only reason there is one star is because the reviewer cannot select zero.

    Cons

Corporate leadership doesn't seem to adhere to the code of ethics they preach.

    Advice to Management

When your moral compass gets a sense that things are amiss with what you're being directed, trust it. Go elsewhere.

    Pros

Typical ANC where management compensation is above industry averages and executive compensation is exceptional. Benefit packages are generous, but they will change your health care benefit frequently just to create busy work for the HR Departments.

    Cons

These companies will never grow beyond the ability to marginally perform in anything other than sole-sourced government contracts and big oil hand-out programs. The burden from their village socialism and their unwillingness to capitalize earnings will ensure they just continue to bump along.

    Advice to Management

Position more MBAs and fewer Whaling Captains on the Board of Directors. Some of these folks need to take a good hard look at their own Umiaqs, before preaching their holistic ethics to the outside world.

    Pros

The company is very flexible if you need personal time.

    Cons

There is no standard procedure in place. You have inexperiences staff getting promotion and earning salary higher than management....

    Advice to Management

    Restructure the support group.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Pay is better than some communications companies.

    Cons

High turnover in management. When one manager quits they just promote the nearest body without any consideration toward qualifications. Due to the total lack of documented processes, new policies are put into place almost daily and forgotten just as fast. Every new policy is just a knee jerk reaction to a problem that never would have happened if they would just create a plan and stick with it.

    Advice to Management

Be more selective in your hiring process. Have less tolerance for employees who do not perform.
