I have been working at Ulta Beauty part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Employee discount (35% discount) Gratis

    Cons

Too much pressure on credit card signups (you get judged HARSHLY if you dont reach your goals) Disorganized management Miscommunication Ended up taking someone's shift and they claimed they put in my hours, but they never did.. (basically i worked for no pay that day) so if you like being screwed over in your hours, then by all means work at Ulta Inconsistent hours!!!!! (one week you can work 2 days, the next you'll be working 6 days)

I worked at Ulta Beauty part-time

    Pros

Flexible hours Free gratis to test new products Awesome salon discount A decent employee discount Good training Will get promoted if that is your goal Many job positions Loved my coworkers and the family like environment Fast paced

    Cons

This job is all about the management. If your manager isn’t good you’re going to have a terrible time. I absolutely LOVED my job up until they (corporate) gave us a new manager outside of the Ulta family. Absolutely terrible about time off. They use a point system that is extremely unfair. You can be actually dying and if you don’t have any sick time left well that’s too bad. They refuse to take hospital notes or doctor notes. The schedule is extremely random and it’s unlikely you will ever have a set schedule. Always understaffed. But that really depends on the manager. Corporate tells you hours depend on sales but even when you have good sales hours will still get cut. Corporate absolutely does not listen or care about your needs. If you are part time there is absolutely no paid time off. I worked in two separate locations and favoritism is definitely an issue. There is a high turnout or at least there was once we got a new manager. No one wanted to stay. Hours range between 4hrs a week to 20hrs a week even as a Lead Cashier. My store would not accommodate for my school schedule and they don’t like to hire people in school to begin with because they want to be able to call you in whenever they need instead of putting you on the schedule to begin with. Also lack of trust in employees being honest is insane from a corporate perspective. I worked my butt off for almost five years and never moved past my position despite constantly showing I wanted to move up. I did far beyond my job description and it was never enough. Also the customers are unlike any customers I’ve ever in my life had to deal with. Walmart has nicer customers. I had stuff thrown at me, I’ve been spit on, cussed out etc. if you have good management they will have your back but in my case it was always our fault customers would be upset despite us having nothing to do with ordering not being done properly so we didn’t have that particular item in stock.
