    Pros

Umicore is very employee oriented. Safety is of utmost concern, and the benefits package, well above par. Very respectfully of the work/life balance.

    Cons

As this is a foreign entity, some of the concepts don't translate well. Likewise, the dire the ties to government contracts were limiting, from a business standpoint.

    Advice to Management

Further diversify the customer base, rather than count solely on the contracts awarded by government contracted consumers of the products.

    Cons

Favoritism, POOR HR Department, dishonest practices, core values are simply just words.

    Advice to Management

Consider the skill set of those you put in Managment roles. HR in North American, MI, NC doesn't adhere to company core values. If HQ only knew what they do in North America.

I have been working at Umicore full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Location to home, benefits were ok.

    Cons

HR is not qualified for the role, power and control are most important. Not realistic nor did they believe in their own company "values'. Lazy leadership, not a forward thinking company. Set in their ways and refuse to consider other or different suggestions. Accounts P Clerk lacks good judgment and professionalism. Upper Management weak minded, focused more on being liked than addressing the real issues.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, stop the gossip and be professional. LEAD by example! Be willing to GROW, step out of your comfort zone.

I worked at Umicore full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exceptionally rich benefits. The team responsible for deciding the benefit plans and cost seemed to always made decision that were in the best interest of the employee and the company.

Great people. Most of the people there cared for one another, it was a small office where everyone knew everyone.

My experience was rewarding. I count Umicore as one of my more positive work experiences despite challenges in the organization. Show me an organization that doesn't have challenges! The challenges there (for me) were what I considered "make it work for you" situations. Learn. Absorb. Grow and take the experience with you to your next destination.

This office not only is made up of the folks who work there but they are also a service and support center to all of the units in North America, they provide a lot of support on a small staff!

    Cons

Some roles have limited possibilities and growth potential. Business units, while different, are pretty siloed. A few negative folks are peppered in, but that's anywhere

    Advice to Management

Push for more cross unit development and remote working options

I worked at Umicore full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company offers great salaries and benefits!

    Cons

The organization structure was very confusing and unclear, this was a challenge for me to perform the best work! The HR and accounting department managers are very unprofessional, rude and disrespectful!

    Advice to Management

The managers need to set clear goals for the departments and respect all employees regardless who they are.

The challenge of leadership is to be strong, but not rude; be kind, but not weak; be bold, but not bully; be thoughtful, but not lazy; be humble, but not timid; be proud, but not arrogant; have humor, but without folly.” – Jim Rohn
