    Pros

Pays the bills. Steady income. Job security if you show up and willing to do your job. Decent benefits, health and matching 401K.

    Cons

Senior executive leadership is losing focus on what made UniFirst a great all around company to work for. Long hours are expected 10 to 12 hours on average and some 13-14+ hours. Not having product to service accounts and do job. Short staffed.

    Opportunity

Nov 1, 2012 - National Account Manager in Chicago, IL

    Business Outlook

    Pros

After being told by several pharma/med sales companies that I needed 2-3 years of outside B2B sales experience to break into that industry, I interviewed with UniFirst and was hired right out of college as an outside sales rep. My original plan was to work for 2-3 years and then change to a pharma/med sales position with a higher base salary, but the experience and opporunity at UniFirst has proved invaluable and I can now see myself spending my entire career within the organization. In my 7 years with the company I have recieved 4 promotions prior to my current role as a National Account Manager. The job is difficult for the first 12-18 months because of how competitive the industry is and the fact that we work off long term binding agreements, but that is why successful sales reps at UniFirst are held in such high esteem by recruitors and other industries looking for sales professionals. If you are able to push past the rejection and long hours of the first 12-18 months and show even marginal success, things will get easier and you will find yourself in a position to be promoted within the company or have access to a number of high salary sales positions outside of the industry should you decide to leave. I strongly recomend UniFirst for anyone looking for a company where you can excel quickly or are looking to start a career in outside sales.

    Cons

-Competitive Industry -Difficult first year -Long hours for first 12-18 months

Very disappointed with lack of ethics practiced by management & lack of team building skills.

    Pros

The benefits are good compared to other companies in Springfield, MO area. That's about the only positive thing that comes to mind.

    Cons

Long hours & meetings with employees that tore them down instead of built them up to succeed. Couldn't believe the way employees, especially Route Sales Reps, were verbally berated in front of others. There is no real respect for management because of this.

    Pros

Great family like atmosphere with everyone striving for the same goals; competitve results-oriented culture with rewarding bonus compensation tied to strong performance; company values are in the right place; excellent benefit package; extensive Corporate/upper management training and assistance readily available; offers the best products in the industry; very innovative and always searching for ways to improve; stresses promoting from within; if you are internally motivated and work hard producing results, you will be rewarded.

    Cons

Long hours and traveling makes work-life balance difficult; service locations are staffed thin often leaving themselves short-handed in case of turnover/sickness; many of the jobs are difficult/frustrating at times; vacation policy could be updated

Culture
The year was 1936 and Aldo Croatti had a vision: to serve the men and women who put in the hard work. He founded a laundry business to clean clothes of factory workers and others in the heavy-soil business. With UniFirst, he created an entirely new concept: uniform rental services. This business concept gained popularity because it delivered on a key customer need: helping businesses work safer and smarter while presenting a better business image. Aldo’s vision spurred the growth of an entire industry. Learn more about our brand story and how we Always Deliver here.
