I have been working at Uniek full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The owner and upper management really care for the employees. Diversifying the product portfolio is taking the business in the right direction for success. The company has enjoyed great success in the past, rallied through the Great Recession, and will enjoy success in the future.

    Cons

The company is in a situation where there is a dwindling market for its core product. To address this, the company is actively expanding its product portfolio. As a result of the dwindling market, staff has been reduced significantly and salaries have remained stagnant for a few years. Due to the expansion of the product portfolio there is a light at the end of the tunnel and hiring has picked back up this year.

    Advice to Management

Company is still a little top-heavy and focuses too much on marketing.

I have been working at Uniek full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Owner that cares for employees. Cross-functional team interaction. Promotes from within. Trying to improve market position. Won't give up.

    Cons

Organization is top heavy with executives and struggling to find direction after slow-down in market.

    Advice to Management

Pare back on marketing staff and build operational staff. Pare back on vice-presidents and directors.

    I worked at Uniek full-time

    Pros

Overall good company to work for. Co workers are great for the most part, but like any company there are some slackers. Waunakee is a great place to live

    Cons

Getting a raise is like pulling teeth. Supervisors do not want to seem to go to bat for their employees. Benefits are good but not great

    Advice to Management

Get more aggressive about getting more business. Don't just sit back and watch the competitors pass you buy.

    Pros

The company is a manufacturer of some good products. The workforce is very dedicated

    Cons

The organization is run from the very top. Good ideas are only generated at the very highest level. Everyday workers may have good ideas but no one will seriously listen to you. There is a lot of good old boys mentality and you will be on the outside looking in if you can't break into that cliques, you are very expendable.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to be inclusive, Company won't be manufacturing anything soon

    Cons

Very heavy workload; key areas are stretched beyond capacity; some managers show favoritism

    Advice to Management

Tom Pyle is a wonderful man with an open door and sincere appreciation of the company associates. Other managers in the company care only about his/her needs.
