I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Bank holidays, pay (for now) but they are consistently lowing wages and laying people off.

    Cons

The culture favors leaders' personal agenda's and not the real work, so leaders milk this company and its people for their own benefit. Employees are disposable. New HR leadership are self serving with no real regard for the people. There a chaotic lack of direction and lack of cohesive change management focus with an unstable post merger environment. The instability leads to scrambling for scraps and constant finger pointing amongst departments and lack of real work. IT is disastrous and actually prevents productivity. There are no clear channels for employees to gain basic tools or support for the roles they play and attempts to do so may be punitive if they complain.

I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Compensation, Benefits, Multiple learning experience, flexible time. Truly grateful for the one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn to be a Treasury professional in a multinational corporation, working with partners with international vision.

    Cons

Almost directionless management in the last 5 years, particularly after the integration with the parent company.

    Advice to Management

Saving a penny to lose a dollar means eventually you are going to lose $1.01.

    It's a fools' errand.

The real problem is not the $0.01, but HOW to make $1.00. A staffer like me can have all the best ideas in the world, but with silo-ed work environment, static middle management, death-by-paperwork, and illogical favoritism, you will find it hard to focus on any particular idea.

I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Stability, Benefits, Salary, Location, Size

    Cons

Management for the Financial Intelligence Unit is disinterested in the employees. Process was relocated to Arizona for a more affordable work force. Benefits were gradually eroded once the Japanese parent took over. It was an entirely different company by the time I left. You will definitely be treated like a "body" in a position.

    Advice to Management

Look for a balance between efficiency of operations and maintaining high levels of moral. You can explain away the rapid turn over in SF, but it is just as high in AZ.

    Pros

The team, the benefits and the pay.

    Cons

It's a bank, so there's several turns of "renewal". The new US CEO gives stability to the Americas group so I'm hopeful that there will be a new age of refocus on core principals. Also, they keep trying to rebrand under the parent company which is annoying.

    Advice to Management

Keep client messaging consistent regarding the brand. Support high performers. Upgrade the computer programs.

I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, long history of successful and stable operations

    Cons

Continuous Restructuring, lay-offs has affected morale over the previous three years. Management says they want to grow but more focused on cutting costs and doing cheap things like cutting parking subsidy, not matching 401K until the end of fiscal year.

    Advice to Management

You can't tell your employees they have to do better, cut benefits and lay off people and say you want to grow all at the same time, doesn't work.....lost your good reputation in the industry.

    Pros

Pay is competitive than most. They do train their employees well and require to wear many different hats. I'm grateful for all the opportunities and experiences with Union Bank. I definitely grew a lot here.

    Cons

there is a strong display of favoritism. It's who you know rather than what you know. I wouldn't be surprised if I got called to participate in any law suits for sexism and discrimination.

    Advice to Management

Consider someone's actual results and accomplishments rather than eat up words you want to hear.

I worked at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great for the first 3 to 6 months

    Cons

You will quickly learn that this bank doesn't know whats it's doing. Doesn't have the systems, products, or vision to take a 100 year old bank and make it work.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees and they will take care of you.
