I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent benefits and raises. Salary is good. Location in jersey city is very nice. Good commute.

    Cons

Its just like every other 9-5 job such as insurance companies or banks. Software is a bit outdated. Lack proactivity in culture.

    Advice to Management

Lets try to move the ship faster. Everything seems to be slow.

I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time

    Pros

Client focused. This position allows you to grow your knowledge around ALL realms of banking. I came from another institution where you would just refer to a partner (i.e. business specialist, loan representative) for sales and loans/lines, but here, you do it all. I have learned about setting up trusts, deceased processing, business lines/loans, consumer products and you input and gather docs while also communicating to underwriter through the whole process. It allows you to expand your knowledge and grow in your profession. Gives you an upper hand if you ever decide to leave.

    Cons

Not a lot of growth from within. They value hiring outside hiring to "build their book of business." VERY goal focused with not a lot of bonus opportunity. The base pay is decent, but for the work you feel underpaid. VERY strict lending guidelines, hard to get loans booked, but still possible.

    Advice to Management

Allow growth within Union Bank. Dont put as much pressure on bankers, goals are too strict. Also, stop trying to push us to do little tick mark daily activities.

I worked at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Compensation is good, however it may be because they are short of competent people.

    Cons

Management has gotten too top-heavy, dysfunctional and highly political since the merger with the east. It is no longer an appreciative and healthy environment that it was, some 10 years ago. Cost-cutting measures in the wrong places drove good people away. Poor work-life balance especially in IT.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of many useless layers and incompetent execs from BA.

I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Fairly good pay, some good diversity programs

    Cons

No flexibility and ability to work from home, very old fashion senior management based on instilling fear to the employees, a lot of turn over and miserable people who feel unappreciated and fearful of losing their jobs

    Advice to Management

We are in 2017 and not 1987. True leaders inpsire people to do their job not through fear and rules, but by truly appreciating their people and teams and encouraging and guiding them to do what they do best.
I think one of the biggest drawbacks is that you are not allowing people to work from home. You will lose all of the talent, if you haven't already.

I have been working at Union Bank N.A. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I work with are great! i enjoy the work, and the pay is good for the industry.

    Cons

The systems are slow and we are owned by a foreign company who bought us just 2/3 years ago.

    Advice to Management

Please update our systems. It is extremely frustrating to have systems that crash and that don't talk to each other

    Pros

Lots of long time employees because they used to offer a pension.

    Cons

Outdated computer programs. No support for growth.

    Advice to Management

Train the management on how to work with people. Many of them are lifetime employees that are rude and old fashioned.

    Cons

Career Development - This is what made me leave the company. You get promised and assured one thing, but it didn't happen.
