I have been working at Unipart Rail full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Decent enough pay for easy jobs with little to no responsibility - Friendly and easy going bosses - Finishing at 1pm on a Friday - Overtime pay (not mandatory) after 1pm to 4:30pm on a Friday, 8am to 12pm on a Saturday - Special events like Christmas meals, Halloween dress up, free ice cream once in a blue moon

    Cons

    - Colleagues are too gossipy and can say some really nasty things. - Tedious, mind-numbing work - Two 10 minute breaks (10am, 3pm) instead of the standard 15. You're not allowed outside except at lunch (12:30pm to 1pm) - In the past, they have laid off a lot of people on agency. - Issues with suppliers resulting in delays in production - Strict drugs and alcohol policy

I worked at Unipart Rail full-time

    Pros

Good flexible hours. Managers don’t what your meant to be doing, and don’t check up on you.

    Cons

Upper management shoehorned into positions because their face fits, without knowing how to do their jobs properly.

    Advice to Management

Train managers how to do their job properly. Ensure they know your own policy’s before dictating them out.

I have been working at Unipart Rail full-time

    Pros

Majority of work colleagues are friendly and helpful. Close to M18

    Cons

Low salary for positions compared to other businesses No 'real' personnel development supported by management Personnel recruitment procedures are carried out just to tick boxes and not fulfilled Low morale - a lot of people leaving the business for better employment conditions One half hour break allowed for lunch only A role in the office is similar to working on a production line - highly repetitive and boring

    Advice to Management

Reward personnel in line with market rates or higher to retain the staff Ensure team managers are listening to and developing staff - not just interested in themselves

    Pros

Some of the people I work with.

    Cons

Unsupportive and bullying management. Poor treatment of staff and few perks. Poor culture.

    Advice to Management

Ignore the results of the employee engagement survey, people are too scared to put what they really think.
