I worked at Unisys full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with great people, some new technology and get a pay check.

    Cons

No management training for new managers. Example: Heard boss say negative things in a virtual meeting with co-workers I wasn't attaining because I worked overtime. Odd cause this was never discussed with me and the annual reviews were stellar.

People protect their knowledge to safeguard their positions. Plus, reducing number of customers which causes layoffs. No pay raises.

When positions are moved overseas, they come back to you to do the work cause the permissions are not set or they don't have logins. Even after screen sharing and training, they have issues.

    Advice to Management

Train your lower level managers. If you plan on off shoring a job, give them the training and permissions to do it. Set up labs so your employees can learn or test skills before doing work on a device or network.

Crosstrain your employees and invest in them.

Get a new upper management team. Peter is not the right guy for this job. Ed Coleman was heading the company to becoming profitable. Has Unisys made a profit since you joined?

I worked at Unisys full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

You get a lot of experience in different areas--if you want to work hard and do the work for a long while without any change in role or compensation.

    Cons

Unisys has lost its way--they no longer care about their US-based employees and it shows. Aggressive moves offshore, quick and dirty lay-offs with almost no severance, delays in paying vacation hour balances, form letters about non-competes from legal without any valid contact information (phone number and website included are unavailable).

    Advice to Management

If your intent is to reduce your US-based workforce, at least make it attractive for them to look for other jobs. Terminating health care at the date of severance instead of the end of the month like other normal companies do, delaying vacation pay, and sending aggressive form letters about not recruiting employees to new roles all show that Unisys does not value its US-based workforce.

I worked at Unisys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent pay for call center

    Cons

you are expendable at Unisys. You'll troubleshoot issues that are technical and gain a bit of knowledge, but it will soon become very routine. Unisys doesn't train their employees. They hire people with basic background knowledge and throw them in to start taking calls. this can be very stressful as the help file you are given rarely gives you the answer to your callers problem.
Management was horrible. You're never acknowledged for a job well done, but will get lectured for call handle time and the slightest mistakes. You are expected to reach out to level 2 agents when you hit a road block or approach your call time limit, but level 2 agents do their best to avoid you or brush you off.
Strict attendance policy, no excuses for being inevitably late due to heavy snow days or a sick infant at home. Leaving your phone to use the restroom counts toward your paid breaks.
Not an enjoyable place to work

I worked at Unisys full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Past history of loyalist strong base in financial sector good benefits nice people to work with. Sales training is a good foundation.

    Cons

Old technology and slow to change and missing the boat. Still to much fat which needs trimming to function with the changing of times.

    Advice to Management

New leadership needed and a need to listen to the changing IT market and adapt quicker. Not a solid reputation in industry.
