I have been working at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Airline is still in business

    Cons

New Reservations computer system does not work properly, nor does United.com. Res agents are made to help IT build new system. IT has never done our job & does not know what we need. Poor training, lack of attention to details, management has elitist attitude toward hourly employees, my supervisor cannot do my job & is more an assistant to managers

    Advice to Management

Give United Airlines back to United management. This airline is Continental & they were a very poor airline with poor values. If CO was so great, why are we named United? United Airlines no longer exist...

I worked at United Airlines part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

the flight benefit which you have to find the time to take off and have money to travel and only than you can "maybe" get on the flight if its not oversold

    Cons

will give negative five stars if i could you will encounter some of the ugliest human nature when you work here from your coworker to the passengers since united made so many headlines on social media once you call it a quit and want to move on nobody want to hire you because the company's name just doesn't look good on your resume

    Advice to Management

none because nothing will ever change

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Airline privileges
Family members can ride United Airlines
    The pay is ok
    You get 401k
    You get a free lunch
    You get Pention

    Cons

    1) they give you a bs schedule
    2) they don’t try to give you a week to train you how to do stuff
3)the manager act like their too busy to try to help you to show you how to work your station
4)some of the managers got a nasty attitude they don’t know how to talk to people like a person then when a person tells them off for their nasty attitude they want to try to get somebody fired.
5)they are unorganized when it comes to production

    Advice to Management

The President and Vice President need to be there to see what’s going on at United Airlines and sit down wit the some of these managers and try to get some better organization wit this company.

I worked at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

almost none--there are no good reasons to work at this company

    Cons

Cons of this 'airline' are Too numerous to mention.. United ruined a great airline, Continental.
Their arrogance is beyond anything I had ever experienced in my carrer.
    Stay away from this company.

    Advice to Management

zero--it's too late to get rid of all the old UA 'culture'

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    • Some of your coworkers are fun to be around & make you look forward to going to work.
    • The travel benefits (if you manage to get on the packed planes) are good.
    • Travelling the world as your job.

    Cons

    • Continental management has poisoned original United management's way of thinking.
    • H.R. couldn't care less about you, the employee.
    • While technically a "pro", medical & dental are more expensive & cover less than ever before.
    • Some employees (flight attendants in particular) are VERY cliquish & can be those "bad apples" you hear about.
    • The pay is terrible & in no way matches what they post as paying (unless you're very senior & work specific positions).
    • The odd & sometimes long hours can be tough on your body. (Look up 'Non 24')
    • It's hard to eat healthy when your only food options are airplane food, or airport food.
    • You aren't a member of a "family" anymore. You're a number. And that's it.
    • There's no growth as a flight attendant other than gaining seniority (unless you transfer to a management position).

    Advice to Management

To pre merger UAL management: stop separating the 2 work groups. Stop allowing Continental management to ruin the family we once had at United. Get the Smizek mentality out of your heads. We're human beings, treat us as such.

I worked at United Airlines full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, bidding system, company supplies lunch

    Cons

Point system sucks . Catering department is the worse. No real leadership. Alot of favortism. Operation is in shambles. Pay is low for the amount of work required

    Advice to Management

Be fair to everyone. Take employee concerns into comsideration. Change amount of point allowed to a higher number.

I worked at United Airlines part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good eviroment to work Everybody was friendly

    Cons

It was a temporary position and supposedly they said if you had perfect attendance they were going to make permanent Well in that case i had perfect attendance. I never got in trouble and i was that knew more about planes then almost everybody. And they still got rid of me

    Advice to Management

You guys do not choose people by evaluation. But by face.

    Pros

Willis tower, nice views, nice restaurants

    Cons

Very dramatic environment, backstabbers, liars just to get their ways. When working with the digital publishing team people here try to act like friends then backstab you and demonize you. This is highly stressful and not worth the time to here.

    Advice to Management

    Management is blind!

I worked at United Airlines part-time

    Pros

Nice group of peers, good people

    Cons

Managers lack basic management skills, don't promote based on skills and performance, promotions are based on favorites and friendships

    Advice to Management

Start understanding and valuing what your direct reports are doing daily. Start recognizing people for the value they bring to the company

I have been working at United Airlines part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are pretty good and you get to travel for work.

    Cons

Scheduling is horrible. Depending on the base you will be on reserve for many years and reserve is very difficult to deal with.

    Advice to Management

Change Reserve System, every other airline has a better reserve system. This is abusive and has made life very difficult. The company does not seem to value their new hires and its union is completely disregarding new hires and only appeases senior staff.
