I have been working at United Airlines full-time

    Pros

    Excellent compensation packages/work/life balance.

    Cons

Disorganized onboarding process, rude, arrogant employees

    Advice to Management

Focus on customer service training for ALL employees. Fire those who do not go out of their way to ensure that the customer, or fellow employee, is appreciated, respected, and worth their time.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time

    Pros

Global airline. Co-workers are friendly and helpful.

    Cons

Work life balance. Unable to take sick time without being penalized or possibly losing your job. New computer system does not work efficiently and there is no way to prove it when it is about the employee's accountability.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your agents and be proactive in helping, not finding reasons to let them go. Be transparent!

I worked at United Airlines full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

When utilised correctly, airline industry flight benefits can help you see the world.

    Cons

The internal politics were brutal, with lots of infighting and manipulation.

    Advice to Management

Treat each other correctly, set up real corporate values and live them. Management down to the rank and file should know the values, and they should be rewarded for reflecting them. Conversely, those who manipulate and connive should not be rewarded with bonuses and promotions.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can travel for free if the plane is not oversold which it commonly is. People in management are nice. Good appareciation events and incentives.

    Cons

Some of the people have a bare bones minimum education. Only some of the management team have higher education. You can forget admins having any higher learning and most have come from prior union jobs that stick to the status quo. There is a lack of accountability and initiative or any forward thinking. There is still a subUnited and subContinental mentality.

    Advice to Management

There is a major need for reconstruction of responsibilities and accountability. Employees don't feel or want to be better or strive for going above and beyond. And it sucks that your hands are tied with legal and HR to get rid of people that do not at minimum meet expectations.
