I have been working at United Airlines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is a very nice environment for work. A lot of seniors are working till this moment which means it is a good company to work for. I get trained from top mechanics in the United States and worldwide.

    Cons

I started working on the most complicated structures and parts and it is leading to a higher skills. So many things to learn but it's all coming at the right time.

    Pros

Challenging high potential environment. Very highly educated people who are passionate about airlines. Senior Management is cognizant of high achievers and makes sure that they are rewarded and provided with all opportunities to contribute and grow.

    Cons

Too much time spent on spinning wheels, there are a lot of very mediocre people at United who prefer the easy lifestyle. United has a highly siloed organizational structure and departments dont communicate very well with each other. This is something that should definitely be improved. Management is very conservative on decisions and often lets many good things pass by

    Advice to Management

Cut costs! Be competitive on benefits

    Pros

passionate employees, great industry to be a part of with rich history, management is taking the right steps to return to profitability

    Cons

more focus on frontline employees needed. its time for senior leaders need to walk the talk and put egos aside to improve teamwork and collaboration across the enterprise

    Advice to Management

remove silos, reduce the hierarchial org structure you have in place (too many layers between ceo and frontline), be genuine and dont look for talent outside when there are so many good employees at all levels within the company

    Pros

    * The benefits are great.
    * I enjoy interacting with customer and colleagues, the overwhelming majority of whom like flying with United and working at United.
    * The pay is competitive.

    Cons

    * The hours can be long.

    Advice to Management

Considering our recent airplane order, new meals and snacks onboard, and the improvements in performance this year: keep up the good work.

    Pros

Travel Benefits. You meet wonderful people.

    Cons

Some very senior flight attendants have a sense of "entitlement", some are bitter and do no enjoy working there anymore. They do not want to work as a team. However they do not quit. Some other ones are really nice no matter how many years they have flown.

    Advice to Management

Rotate the schedules no matter how senior you are.

    Pros

The ability to see the world when ever you want is by far one of the most unique value add benefits any employee could hope for. I've been to places for pleasure and business that most people can only dream of - thanks United.

    Cons

I think like many large corporations it's easy to feel like change doesn't come quick enough. Many employees hace strong ideas that sometimes have a tendency to feel unheard.

    Advice to Management

To the most senior executives...don't flaunt your bonuses. The company had only made a profit one year since 9/11. Lead form the top down, and dont take a huge salary while your front line feels like they are suffering.

    Pros

Extremely important work given to intern with 0 experience. Colleagues took immense time to teach me everything they knew. Ability to fly to Europe, Hawaii, ...everywhere for a token fee, every weekend, on standby. Lots and lots of freedom, great team structure, and the ideas I presented were implemented with little hesitation. Smart managers with diverse experiences; lots of former consultants who sought a better life-work balance are working in management.

    Cons

No clear path how to advance through airline. Worked during United-Continental merger, so advancement opportunities were murky. Internship program is small, but flight-benefits for interns is the best benefit out there!!!

    Advice to Management

Grow the internship program. Undergrads are cheaper than MBA-interns. Keep the flight benefits for interns... they made this job to-die-for!

    Pros

Great Bennie, face pace work set. Flexibility with schedule. Everything is good about it. No if and buts or maybe.

    Cons

Management don't treat you well. You are only considered a number and not a complete worker. They never acknowledge your work.

    Advice to Management

The advice i would have would be that they need to acknowledge or work and not show favoritism because it not fair.

Management is very flexible and has an open door policy. Great travel benefits as long as you are flexible.

    Cons

Huge company where is can be different for people new to the workforce to gain a strong understanding for all of the companies operations.

    Pros

Great benefits, friendly and cooperative coworkers, diversity, many different career fields. I have really enjoyed working here for the past few months and do not have any serious complaints.

    Cons

As a temp, it is hard to have access to the internal job postings and most of the postings are for information technology which is a field that I do not have experience with.

    Advice to Management

Overall, I really enjoy working in the Human Resources Department. There needs to be more opportunities for growth for Temp Workers.
