    Pros

Interaction with Great people from around the world. Wonderful go Worker's. This was a dream job with great pay!

    Cons

In this day and age flying could almost be a very dangerously challenging job.

    Advice to Management

Fight attendants need better rest time and layover accommodations. Safety is very very important.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent salary and benefits. Good people at the lowest levels of each department.

    Cons

Ultra poor management. Not enough resources to do the jobs properly. They rely heavily on contract workers. High turn over rate. The level of resources does not begin to address the needs of a global enterprise. Pushing people to do more now than ever. Although they have good performance incentives, there's nothing to keep management in check or to weed out bad managers. No career development nor training.

    Advice to Management

Develop and administer 360 degree reviews on management.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Challenging work, good coworkers, always a lot learn, technology is constantly changing, get to travel the world, airline industry never gets boring.

    Cons

Reorganizations are getting tedious, overuse of contractors is not in the long term interest of United. Some managers ignore the problems and pretend everything is perfect.

I worked at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

the work is interesting and there are some very loyal employees.

    Cons

culture is really negative with a lot of poor management. not an easy place for women to earn respect. lots of merger tension years after the merger took place.

    Advice to Management

treat employees with respect. hire the right people for right reasons and leave politics out of it. find a way to improve morale and overall culture.

I have been working at United Airlines full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company as a whole is just a plus! The culture is very conservative and professional. They prepare you before you're put on the floor with training classes (if you're lucky, you'll get Kealani). You meet so many AMAZING people who are willing and ready to help guide you in whatever direction you want to go in this gigantic company. The company is transparent with its customers and employees. This company is amazing because of so many reasons but my number one reason is because they honestly care about the employees and take care of them. It's not just about the customer. It's about the customer AND the employees.

    Cons

The only downside is the scheduling. You bid for shifts and seniority if everything! Another reason to get in early and stay in (haha!).

I worked at United Airlines full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great flight benefits, pay only a few bucks in taxes for flights all over the world. First rate laptops to code on.

    Cons

Code-base contains just about every anti-pattern in the book: 7,000+ line classes, 3,500+ line anonymous inner classes, code duplication of >50%, invalid equality method, cyclomatic complexity up to and past 30, etc. There are some areas of sanity but I didn't work in one. Ask to look at the Sonar dashboard before working there.

    Advice to Management

Buy a book on software development, read it, understand it, and implement it.

    Pros

Flying International has opened the door to the world. It's been an exciting ride thus far, for 30+ years, meeting customers from all walks of life and cultures domestically and Internationally. I will always cherish my many memories with fellow flight attendants and pilots on our layovers.

    Cons

    Being junior and working holidays.

    Advice to Management

Always keep in touch, or actually work a shift/flight, to keep updated with the changings.
