    Pros

    Risidual income for policies written

    Cons

Nothing but cold calls and lies. Travel is out of pocket which is key to success. You are basically an independant business owner but do not have the full actualization of revenue streams

I worked at United American Insurance (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Product Potential is there if competitive products are designed.

    Cons

The company excessively manages expense that it becomes counterproductive. The company does not manage performance and compensation to retain the good employees. The management team has a tendency to hire non-qualified employees at a low cost and expect them perform a function that are not trained to do.

    Advice to Management

Avoid micro managing the employees, enable them to make decisions and measure against attainable targets. Employees are held to metrics that cannot control and the management team has a different set of metrics they are striving towards.

I worked at United American Insurance (More than a year)

    Pros

There was nothing good about working here unless you enjoy being poor.

    Cons

They paint a really great picture of how much money one can make. When I worked there they had the sales figures of every sales person there and not a single one was making close to what they told us we could make.

    Advice to Management

    Advertise. Don't lie.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Ensure every employee is provided a copy of their Job Description in their new hire packet; coupled with a review and agreement of expectations being clear

I worked at United American Insurance (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Supposedly residuals of up to $100,000 could be earned.

    Cons

As a new agent to UA, you are asked to pay a fee to work there.
There is no base salary. You are only paid if you sell policies.
The company does not have a good culture.
A member of management harasses based on gender and race.

    Advice to Management

The culture should be improved, a base salary offered, and it would help if new employees were not charged to work there.

Training members of management to not be biased could improve the company as well.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at United American Insurance full-time

    Pros

There were none that I could see. Training was decent but was lacking in some areas.

    Cons

Where to start ? Very low pay, expensive sub standard benefits. High turnover, and minimal investment in employees due to high turnover. Extremely unprofessional co workers. Dressed like they are on the couch at home or going to the club after.... Disinterested supervisors and management. No empathy towards customer, shady marketing practices. Majority of customers are uneducated and are given wrong types of policies on purpose. Revolving door of customers as well as employees. They focus in both areas on VOLUME and not Quality. Do not waste your time working here. There are other way better companies to work for. Keep in mind they also go by Torchmark Corp , which is United American, and a few other insurance companies all owned by the same terrible management. Low starting pay yet you get to walk by the CEO's Bentley in the parking lot on the way in....

    Advice to Management

Increase starting wage substantially if you want to retain decent talent. Update systems, and facility. It isn't 1984 anymore...... No wonder you guys are losing people in droves to Liberty Mutual.

I have been working at United American Insurance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

United American is a company you can fall in love with. Your coworkers provide a supportive environment, are professional and committed.

    Cons

The company lacks diversity in middle and upper management. There are a "few" minorities, but the numbers are severely depressed. Many minorities don't see a path to achieving vertical growth and often those opportunities seem to prefer external candidates as opposed to internal candidates.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you're looking at all candidates fairly and encouraging your hiring managers to take a chance to push the envelope in hiring practices.
