I have been working at United Bankshares full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A lot of great people work for United. Employee's have exposure to a lot of different parts of the company. The community bank approach fairs well with clients while being compensated with the amount of resources of a larger financial institution.

    Cons

Do not pay competitively...not even close. High Turnover. Reluctant to provide training to employee's who have been there for a while. United is known for provide verbal commitments to employees and not following through.

    Advice to Management

Start investing in the people who actually care about the company.

I have been working at United Bankshares full-time

    Pros

Good medical benefits, flexible hours, ability for advancement

    Cons

Compensation is low compared to peers ( especially if you are female ), males employees are often promoted before female employee, no bonus structure

    Advice to Management

United always says, " our greatest asset is our people", however most employees do not feel that way. Staffing levels are not equally balanced in many departments and back office staff is not as helpful as they should be to the front line staff. The overall thought process is good but needs to be revamped to make more sense.
