    Pros

Palmetto had excellent senior leadership that that moved forward with United. I have faith they will address the following cons.

    Cons

Lack of top down communication or cross department communication - everybody doesn't seem on the same page about what's going on. Needs investment in technology from employee perspective (systems, application). Technology is acceptable from client standpoint (mobile banking, mobile deposit)

    Advice to Management

You've got great leaders from Palmetto. Use and empower them.

I have been working at United Community Banks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The job is very easy and the work environment is comfortable.

    Cons

Higher management does not actually care about the people that are "the face of the bank" & locations are constantly short-staffed.

    Advice to Management

Listen to what your employee's have to say. Hire help when it is needed. Reward employees on accomplishments.

    Pros

    I can't think of any.

    Cons

The user interface for its website is the worst in the industry. Impossible to navigate.
And today, the Billpay tab disappeared.

    Advice to Management

Find management who actually serves customers by having a user friendly website. Current management is deaf and blind.

    Pros

The fellow employees are very friendly and considerate to each other, more like family. But it still remains a professional environment.

    Cons

Was part a a major layoff in the mortgage department. Instead of looking into how to resolve internal issues within the department they just removed all the hard working employees. They hired a "new chief" that initially reduced cost by laying off a group of employees, making his bottom line look good but not resolving the true issues. Its like putting an ax to a tree instead of getting to the root of the issue... Poor decisions made by powers that be

    Advice to Management

Live up to your promise to watch out for the real employees in the lower ranks...that are truly are the backbone of the company

    Pros

Great company. Wonderful and caring people to work with.

    Cons

Downsizing has become the trend. The new COO has shifted customer focus to investor focus and the company seems to have lost touch with some of its values. The COO favors hiring new people who are like him over maintaining staff that has shown loyalty and innovation over the years.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and their loyalty.

    Pros

Growing company with emphasis on customer satisfaction and high regard for employees.

    Cons

It seems newer management may not share the same regard for employees as previous years. Stress level high

    Pros

Fellow employees where very supportive...like a family like environment....there to help each other do there best in the job ....customer service is very important

    Cons

Company started out a very positive company and ended up about the bottom line...a company should support you through the prosperity and lean times....VERY disappointed in how the "work form reduction" was handled...was ALL about $$$ not relationship ...was there for over 8years

    Pros

An employee can learn a lot. If you accept a position, learn what you can, then get out.

    Cons

Constant hiring of upper management. Constant lay-offs of existing employees. As a result, employees rarely feel secure in their jobs. Little room for growth for existing employees. Executive management out of touch with general dissatisfaction of employees or don't care. Stressful environment.

I have been working at United Community Banks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Due to smaller size of company work environment is not as formal as larger corporations.
Strong focus on servicing the customer which is evident at the branch level.

    Cons

Close-minded culture which does not allow for internal advancement; therefore not an environment for the ambitious professional. Additional training is not offered to improve job knowledge nor sharpen skills. Regional decision making as emphasized to clients is an exaggeration; in reality decisions are heavily influenced by others beyond the local level. Employees are not valued as an asset to the organization.

    Advice to Management

Focus on improving the work environment as a multi-faceted arena for employees. Moral is extremely low and many employees feel stuck in a job where you just come to get a paycheck. All professional positions should be posted internally to allow equal for equal opportunity. Low payscale compared to market.
