I worked at United Natural Foods full-time

    Pros

Great personnel and team building through management. Comfortable, ergonomic work spaces.

    Cons

The departmental training program at the time was not provided by a training coordinator, rather by staff that had deadlines and daily responsibilities.

I have been working at United Natural Foods full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay, job security, I get to stay close to home. They really look out for their employees to try and keep them with the company.

    Cons

The biggest con would be the failure to communicate with the employees. It seems like there are other companies that pay their employees more.

    Advice to Management

    Learn to communicate better

I have been working at United Natural Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discount through Co-op for Natural and Organic foods. Great co-workers. Free parking in Providence. Volunteer opportunities encouraged. Flex time and work from home possible, good life/work balance. Promotes from within.

    Cons

Sketchy senior management. Poor communication. Pays significantly under market for most positions. Not forward thinking in business software and applications. Promotes from within, but with little or no compensation. Losing focus on mission statement.

    Advice to Management

Retain legacy knowledge by compensating tenured employees rather than losing them and paying more for people off the street. Communicate better and embrace transparency in business.

I worked at United Natural Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good first job to get experience. The company promotes sustainability and encourages volunteerism.

    Cons

There is no growth. The pay is grossly under market rate. Classic carrot dangling. High turnover in every department. No courtesy interview for internal candidate. Management is out of touch and mildly practice favoritism. HR isn't there to help you; they're there to help UNFI.

    Advice to Management

Add more head count. Distribute the work load better. Stop making false promises. Pay more money to keep your good workers!
