I have been working at United Natural full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

One of the greatest things about this company is how they treat their employees. Everyone feels like they matter here. I've worked here full time for close to 3 years, and yes, it's warehouse work. Sometimes it can feel repetitive and sometimes the shifts can be pretty long. But as far as warehouse work, it doesn't get much better. The pay is better than most similar companies in my area as well.

    Cons

Work gets quite repetitive and sometimes shifts are up to 12+ hours long. Most of the time though, you work 4 10 hr shifts, which is pretty good.

    Advice to Management

Possible, but opportunities into management are few and far between.

I worked at United Natural full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Relaxed work environment, great benefits, flexible time off.

    Cons

Cliques, people thinking they are better than others. People talk down to one another. A lot of change in upper management. Unsure future.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people sharing ideas on how to save money and margin. Spend a bit of time with them, projects move too slowly. Talking about the same initiatives every year isn't making progress.

I have been working at United Natural full-time

    Pros

Good profit sharing, decent benefits, good team meetings and training with brokers and manufacture reps when you seek it out.

    Cons

Executive Level management annually beat their chests bragging 'bout year over year channel sales growth and increasing shareholder profits....despite all this growth each year. we have not increased the size of our customer service, sales, operations and marketing teams at all instead they pile it on employee workloads with a take-it-or leave-it smirk.... We've lost several key account chains by ignoring requests from Store Executives, Owners, Myself and other Veteran Territory Mangers of repeated service issues. When will UNFI Executives realize we need to stop sitting on profits and invest in the company and our stores by hiring additional sales, customer service and store support members? Operations teams from routing, inventory control, credit department and many of our recently hired drivers really act as if they don't care and do not believe in customer service?

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and hire additional sales and store support managers. Or we will continue loosing more profitable business that can be serviced much better by our competitors.

I worked at United Natural part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company culture is great - I loved being around the office and talking to different people constantly. It is a bright environment full of people always willing to help. I love the healthy snacks around the office (fresh, organic fruit in the pantries). Very collaborative team environment.

    Cons

I never had any negative experience working throughout my three months at UNFI. It was only temporary employment, but I was always treated like a member of the team and my ideas were always welcome.

    Advice to Management

I loved feeling like I had a voice. People were welcome to new ideas and willing to teach. It was a comfortable working environment.

Get closer to the customer experience. New logistics system makes them very unhappy with us.
