I have been working at United Rentals full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company is very committed to its people, safety career development and compensation are outstanding. If you want to place to work where they believe in you and want you all they can to develop your career this is the place. United Rentals is by far the best company I’ve ever worked for.

    Cons

Absolutely none. There’s not a better place to work. I’ve been with the company for two years, it’s not often that a fortune 500 company will give you an opportunity.

    Advice to Management

The only advice to management I would have is to continue on the path we are on.

I worked at United Rentals full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Access to largest fleet in the country

    Cons

Management has turned this company upside down. Only managers in the right clicks stay employed here. All other positions have become a revolving door. Certainly a company that does not value employees.

    Advice to Management

You forgot who pays your check. The customer and the sales team.

I have been working at United Rentals for more than a year

    Pros

There is a lot of freedom and they give you the tools and training you need to be successful. Anyone in the sales positions are more than willing to help and support

    Cons

Micro management is overwhelming. They are so focused on on making the sale force numbers look good that they lose track of what's important. The compensation keeps changing and getting smaller and smaller

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about what the stake holders think and listen to your employees frustration. Moral is down at the branch levels because of it

I have been working at United Rentals full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Decent pay and some of the locations are true team working stores, and work hard to keep the customers happy

    Cons

Mid level management sucks, to many people tell you how to do your job based off of a spreadsheet and CRM

    Advice to Management

Look hard at mid level management, put in place sales managers that actually manage the selling process and sales people not just reports

    I worked at United Rentals

    Pros

Made lots of money and friends

    Cons

Management is not good in this company.

    Advice to Management

You lie to your customers, your shareholders, and your employees. You have made a business that is so fundamental into rocket science and have forgot how you got to be the largest in the world. Your business model and practices are a complete failure. You are not satisfied with a fair profit rather you try to find every way to raise your rates daily to put more to your bottom line. For everyone reading, they told us... to round up to the number 7 on every contract. So if it was $51 dollars, they would charge you $57 dollars. Could not live like that. Those who say it is a good place are new employees that can't see the forrest through the trees.
