I worked at United States Department of Energy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent Opportunity to work while working on your academic goals. Geared towards graduate school. I enjoyed this opportunity and working in the forest doing global climate change research.

    Cons

Choose your academic sponsor wisely. I had a professor from Oregon get mad at me because his female student wanted to go to the hot springs with me. He started a rash of problems by contacting my professor. I had made plans to jump ship to Harvard. The jealous professor in effect derailed my plans.

    Advice to Management

politics... tisk tisk For the most part I had a great time and did my job and things didn't really get derailed towards the end. Too bad, I had been invited to Harvard by Bazaaz. Then one of the top three ecologists in the United States.
