I worked at United States House of Representatives part-time

    Pros

Great hours, access to policy wonks, and a feeling of accomplishment.

    Cons

Current administration has bogged down process, but process is, at best, slow.

    Advice to Management

    Keep pushing for more.

I worked at United States House of Representatives full-time

    Pros

Each office is unique and small enough to allow some autonomy and self-growth.

    Cons

Opportunities are limited to party in power, and pay is not great - especially considering duties and hours.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of leadership courses (too many here are in management positions without experience).

I have been working at United States House of Representatives as an intern

    Pros

Developed my skills on the hill and helped me to advance my resume. Staff members were very helpful in my job search.

    Cons

It can often be tedious work that is very boring like administrative work. These tedious tasks are outweighed by the prestigious position that you are in though.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to continue to pay interns and ask interns for advice on how to improve the office.

I worked at United States House of Representatives as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

Working in the Capitol, attending interesting briefings and receptions, meeting really cool people, seeing Congress (not) work first hand.

    Cons

    Unpaid, expensive place to live.

    Advice to Management

Bridge the divide between staff (other than the Staff Assistant) and the interns. Our office had an awkward dynamic.
