I have been working at United States House of Representatives full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This position offers great flexibility and many opportunities to learn and grow. It is also a great place to make important contacts to build a solid career

    Cons

Working in a congressional office has the disadvantage of instability. Every Congressman is up for reelection every 2 years, which means you could lose your job every 2 years.

    Advice to Management

Obtain more transparency in certain openings in other offices so if your boss does lose the election you know what offices are in need of staff and what positions are available.

    Pros

Great benefits, pension plan, dynamic, exciting, full of opportunities, service-oriented, rewarding

    Cons

Stressful, time consuming, low pay, long hours, no social life, competitive, unstable, overly political

Inform staff of the many benefits working at the House. A lot of staff don't even know about the Office of Employee Assistance.

I worked at United States House of Representatives as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a very fun experience in an awesome city. Very college friendly and helps a lot when explaining to employers about your experience. Helps in law school applications and law jobs.

    Cons

Government lacks efficiency and the job was a little boring because the government isn't profit driven so there isn't always something to do.

    Advice to Management

Try to bring up the energy a bit during work. Look for ways to bette the government and become more efficient!

I worked at United States House of Representatives as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was an amazing environment to work in! I loved being in the nation's capital! Such an awesome experience that I was able to have!

    Cons

Only con would be the traffic, but everyone knows that it is bad before and after the work day especially.

    Advice to Management

I don't have any real advice. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would love to return back to the Capitol if my career allowed it.
