    Pros

    Flexible work and freedom to pursue research, much like any civilian faculty job elsewhere.

    Cons

    The military don't understand civilian research, and many in leadership don't have any history with academics (due to being military), so civilian faculty are often ignored despite their expertise.

    Atmosphere of hierarchy; zero promotion potential; poor management and leadership in some departments; people move around and never leave or retire when they should

    Pros

    Small class size, intellectually stimulating work environment. Balance between military and civilian faculty members. Opportunities to work closely with Midshipman on research projects, Located in historic Annapolis, MD.

    Cons

    Parking is challenging. No graduate programs offered. Fiscal challenges due to reduced federal budgets. Administrative overhead associated with conference travel.
