I worked at United Stationers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good products and team work within each section of the company. Branch and field are great to work with and email.

    Cons

People really only care about themselves and working by themselves. No one relies on looking for interactive and innovative resources.

    Advice to Management

When you hire someone, let them make their own decisions as you are hiring skilled and abled people who want to do good and make money for the company.

I have been working at United Stationers full-time

    Pros

If there were any, I'd tell you.

Wipe out upper elite and start over. Self seeking egoists whose only concern is their pay and bonuses at the cost of hard working staff who are easily discarded.

    Advice to Management

wake up or what you have will soon be gone. You need to be humbled and realize once staff is gone, the ones you so easily discard, the company will fall and then how will you get your money, your god?

I have been working at United Stationers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits. Some managers are great while others are just horrible. Nice corporate headquarters building with a large atrium. Some departments allow associates to work from home one day per week.

    Cons

No long term vision for the company. Constantly being pulled to work on competing and conflicting priorities. Management told associates working on their corporate transformation that working on the transformation project would be good for their careers. They then let many team members go before the project was complete. Morale at the company is at an all time low. Executive turnover has been very high. More than 4 CFOs, 2 CIOs and 3 CEOs in 10 years.....

    Advice to Management

Stop promoting yourselves and making your lives very cushy on the backs of lower level associates who feel the day to day brunt of the annual Q1 layoffs with no more than an average 2% annual raise and no appreciation shown.
