I worked at United Therapeutics full-time

    Pros

Fantastic Facilities with Amenities (that nobody uses)
    Great All Around Benefits
A Lot Of Extremely Smart People
    Truly Inspirational Company And Mission
    Huge Potential Pipeline

    Cons

Management Is Slowly Destroying The Culture
Company Is On The Verge Of Decline
I.T. (or whatever they want to call it) is a Joke...The CIO Has A Hilarious Ego Problem Completely Tolerated By Leadership
Departments Are Extremely Silo'd And Very Wasteful
Most Managers/Directors Are Not Empowered To Do Anything (Just A Title)

    Advice to Management

The Executive Level Needs To Re-Tool This Company's Middle Management. A Lot Of Issues You Guys Are Either Willfully Ignoring Or Just Plan Ignorant To What's Going On In Some Departments. Some Improvements Have Been Made, But It Needs To Go Much Farther And Deeper.

I Hope This Company Succeeds. They Are Really Doing Great Things.

I worked at United Therapeutics full-time

    Pros

Free food, nice building, but that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of a work culture.

    Cons

CIO has an ego problem; he likes his ideas best. Other departments have a problem with him as well. Also do not like the way he condescendingly talked down to women, especially young women.

    Advice to Management

Stop the micromanagement and saying it's "open doors" when it's clearly not the culture there.

I worked at United Therapeutics as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Culture is amazing. I worked as an intern at United Therapeutics over the summer. I felt spoiled by my experience at this company. I got to eat fantastic culinary creations each day for breakfast and lunch, as well as delicious coffee from the coffee bar for free as much as I wanted.

Everyone was friendly and helpful across all departments and there was never a moment that I didn't feel welcome at the company.

    Cons

Sometimes I felt like no one knew what to do with me as an intern and there were days where I never even saw my mentors. The internships could use a little more structure.

    Advice to Management

    Structure internships

    Pros

Good Cafeteria, working environment, lots of smart people.

    Cons

My manager is narrow minded, she knows how to please her supervisors, but she does not care about my professional development at all. Treat people like an ATM.

    Pros

Great benefits, fun culture. Knowing your work helps people.

    Cons

Lack of consistency, growing pains, CEO makes quick decisions without consulting departments or heads that will be required to put plans in action, lack of departmental communciation

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Don't give the company a "Serenity" floor and then just take it away a month later on a whim -- it sends a strange message. You're not a little guy anymore it's time to start acting in a more organized (but still unconventional manner). I have no doubt this company will continue to grow and flourish, but it's pretty painful to endure for those of us who are still here.
