I worked at United Therapeutics full-time

    Pros

Free food, nice building, but that doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of a work culture.

    Cons

CIO has an ego problem; he likes his ideas best. Other departments have a problem with him as well. Also do not like the way he condescendingly talked down to women, especially young women.

    Advice to Management

Stop the micromanagement and saying it's "open doors" when it's clearly not the culture there.

I have been working at United Therapeutics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good Pay Benefits Coffee Bar Gym Tuition Reimbursement and most of the time we are united as One . I enjoy my position and have learned a lot over the years.

    Cons

Management is a joke and HR is even more of a joke people get hired because of who they are and not because of what they know we still have people in positions that don't have a clue and not trying to get a clue and the management keeps making excuses for them trying to plead a case for workers that don't deserve the position raises and bonuses are all the same no matter if you are lazy or a hard worker if you are a skater and just want to get by you will love it if you are a hard worker trying to grow and learn more advance your career you will not be inspired or happy to go to work you will find yourself just there to collect a paycheck especially when you see how others make it without even the knowledge of a pea. The Kentucky Mafia is still alive and well and causing havoc in the halls.

    Advice to Management

Everyone is not Management material get them out of the positions. Stop letting them allow people to skate. If they can't do their job stop rewriting and changing the description for them in order to justify the hire it's not fair to the people that do know their job and perform. Be fair and stop trying to treat everyone equal. Everyone is NOT EQUAL !!!!

I worked at United Therapeutics as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Culture is amazing. I worked as an intern at United Therapeutics over the summer. I felt spoiled by my experience at this company. I got to eat fantastic culinary creations each day for breakfast and lunch, as well as delicious coffee from the coffee bar for free as much as I wanted.

Everyone was friendly and helpful across all departments and there was never a moment that I didn't feel welcome at the company.

    Cons

Sometimes I felt like no one knew what to do with me as an intern and there were days where I never even saw my mentors. The internships could use a little more structure.

    Advice to Management

    Structure internships

    Pros

Great benefits, fun culture. Knowing your work helps people.

    Cons

Lack of consistency, growing pains, CEO makes quick decisions without consulting departments or heads that will be required to put plans in action, lack of departmental communciation

    Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Don't give the company a "Serenity" floor and then just take it away a month later on a whim -- it sends a strange message. You're not a little guy anymore it's time to start acting in a more organized (but still unconventional manner). I have no doubt this company will continue to grow and flourish, but it's pretty painful to endure for those of us who are still here.

I worked at United Therapeutics as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

The salaries can be generous as are the benefits such as health and bonus pay. On site cafeteria has four star chefs and low prices, Starbucks coffee is complimentary, excellent amenities such as fitness room pool & child care.

    Cons

Office politics can get in the way of the work as cohesion at the higher levels of management is wanting. Personalities can dominate policy. Also, while the modern architecture is pretty, the glass walls offer little privacy.

    Advice to Management

    Work together more smoothly
