I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-If you're on the right team, flexibility is amazing.
-Work from home ability is great and makes up for the lack of work-life balance.
-Pay is OK, especially for not being downtown. Great PTO.
-Minnetonka campus has great walking trails outside and good green space.
-Great place to be independent - I don't feel micro-managed.
-Good stepping stone or intro to healthcare. Know quite a few people who come here for a year to get some experience and then move on.

    Cons

    -Technology is an absolute joke
-If you are a career admin, avoid this place. There are only two true levels of admin, and no actual path which is not what recruiting will tell you. The role of admin isn't taken seriously at all here.
-Way too top heavy - it's very typical "old man's club" at the top and there's entirely too many levels of leadership. Everyone is a director here and expects the perks.
-They never look for improvement. We're always running a thousand miles an hour, but if you ask "why?" or "let's pause and see what could change," it's not appreciated nor accepted.
-No actual career discussions. Leaders don't lead or inspire, they're just creating work.
    -Culture is very uninspiring.

    Advice to Management

Thin out the top - there are too many hands in the pot making contradictory decisions. Think about what your asks of the people below you implicate. Stop and ask "WHY" and be open to change. Embrace what a good admin can do for your company - we are being highly under-used and you're losing great talent to other companies.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The employees I've had the chance to get to know are great people. People like them are the reason I have been able to get through my work days

    Cons

Managerial staff is not consistent with their word. No employee appreciation. They've downsized and left people with no options. I've worked here over 3 years and the company moral has tremendously decreases. I would not recommend working here.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I work with within the office

    Cons

Lower management / micro management technology / Health Insurance / salary is low

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees to work and not have them spend company time feeling out sheets of they have done every minute of the day. Have the employee report directly to the on they support, not a manager that has 30 admins under them and not in your office location.
