I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time

    Pros

Lots of innovation on the Optum side. Company not afraid to purchase new technology. Very intelligent coworkers with great ideas. Generous PTO. Decent benefits and 401k match.

    Cons

Tehnological issues take a long time to resolve. Something as simple as a blocked Web page takes a call to the help desk with long hold times and then up to 5 days to get fixed. Lack of communication between different pillars. Several groups have overlap in duties. Always chasing after the next big thing which sucks resources from existing contracts.

    Advice to Management

    Less restructuring and layoffs.
Plan staffing accordingly before committing to new contracts. Existing staff is already stretched thin and pulling them into new development or contracts makes it difficult to provide the best quality to existing customers.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time

    Pros

the end of the day does eventually come

    Cons

Disjointed and broken processes need to be fixed. Too many meetings training and not enough time to do the actual job. I am not doing contracting work, I am an entry level individual inputting information into systems that don't work

    Advice to Management

fix the broken processes and make individuals accountable for their work. The scope of responsibility is too large for a Network Contract Manager in Iowa. Cannot possible do a good job.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you like having to fight to get anything accomplished at a company go to work for them

    Cons

All you will hear is not my job, not my area.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and get something done about the issues
