I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good worklife balance.

    Foutune 10 company.

    Cons

    Toxic leaders

Talented resources reporting to useless leaders making a fat leadership

No plans to get rid of useless leaders instead of bringing them to useless roles.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of non performing leaders. If you are just adjusting them to other portfolio then you are already paying the price to loose the talented leaders.

Non of the leadership team has health care domain knowledge and vision.

They are obsessed with showcase activities.
Get some leaders who knew the health care market trends.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good perks
Good hiring packages compared to other companies
    Good Infrastructure
    Excellent work-life balance

    Cons

No technical growth, you are almost given a monotonous environment
Total politics in management, the variable parts in the salaries are treats for management
No new technologies to work upon, you need to support even 20 years old tech
In the name of cost-cutting you get lesser facilities day-by-day.

    Advice to Management

Adopt new tech to have good talent (freshers won`t start with Classic ASP)
Maintain a fair policy to distribute Variables
Making people push for work is good, but they need off too, please take note of that.

    * Company is trying to add good values but senior members are screwing it up.

    Cons

Team get scared to raise voice just because of its managers. Give individuals more responsibility of owning the system.

    Advice to Management

There is lot which can be done
    1) Have 360 degree review also peer review this will give clear picture about managers and team mates. Also it will let management know how they can move odd one out from the team to have better culture.
    2) Remove odd timings for meetings.
    3) Reduce working hours to 8 hrs
    4) Give team members more ownership. Let them handle their own hours. Focus should be on getting things done.
    5) Give chance for innovation by conducting hackathons, talks etc.
    6) Make environment more happening by including team building activities
    7) Have more focus on experimenting this will help company in building new products.
    8) Change indian management and hire people from some top notch places to have great work culture.
    9) Improve interview standard by giving training how to take interview to get best out of breed.
    10) Make employees happy they will make company happy.
    11) Have more often HR discussion with teams to get suggestion on improving policies. It will give employees a sense that company is trying its best to improve the system in company.

I hope some of this will happen in future and company will shine as one of the best places to work
