I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Remote positions. Great benefits with of course really good health insurance. My immediate supervisor is amazing and goes all out for her group.

    Cons

4 sick days per year then you're penalized. Pay is low and supervisors are overworked. Ongoing training is minimal.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I like the fact that in my location, w/ my degree - the pay is decent
I like that there are options that allow you to work from home

    Cons

I've had two different jobs with two different departments while working for UnitedHealthcare. I think I can accurately describe the company after 5+ years of working for them.

-Very Disorganized - It seems as if we work in silos in every department and this does us no good. No one knows/cares what the others are doing and quite often we are stuck duplicating work or working on projects meant for others to handle (which we find out after the fact).

-Work Life Balance - Yes we have the option to work from home and this was one of the highlights in my decision to take on a new role. However, I work for someone that has no regard for work life balance. Not everyone is like this but a LOT of managers that telecommute do NOT know when to disconnect. I'm talking scheduling meetings well into the evening, asking you to work overtime weekly, sending emails at 2 am. It's quite ridiculous and really counterproductive in many ways.

    -Benefits - trash

    -Holidays - typical 8 days

    Advice to Management

Please make manager's take MANDATORY trainings on how to manage others, Having a manager that can't even manage their day ---try to manage me, is insanity.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility, work/family balance, option to work from home is a plus! Ability to transfer within the company

    Cons

Our position was eliminated & management told us we would receive "about $1,000 per year that you worked". We didn't get near that amount. Former managers wouldn't help us find other employment within the company and that is so disappointing. I've always had great things to say about UHC/UHG, but that was a low blow.

I worked at UnitedHealth Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Telecommuting, easy hire, decent salary (in CA)

    Cons

Worst health insurance ever! It was like being uninsured... Obsession with process - it is more important than the actual work. The organization kept adding more annoying wastes of time: huddles, one to ones, mining employees cases on a pre-emotive basis looking for mistakes, endless nitpicking...

    Advice to Management

You are an insurance company; insurance should be great.
