I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Diversity, flexibility, great pay, tons of time off. The company hires great people that are great to work with.

    Cons

Company demands are high. Communication can be inconsistent. Tools are not refined and often incorrect. A project may start then be stopped because it was not planned and not possible to complete. Leadership is brass and quick to blame

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary is better than expected. Huge company that is growing. Good hours & schedule. Competitive company in the managed care arena.

    Cons

Hard to advance & transfer within the company. No telecommute options for my current role. High turnover rate throughout the organization. Lack of communication & commitment from senior management. Typical "no one listens to the little people" environment. Lack of employee morale.

I have been working at UnitedHealth Group full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

UHG tells you up front that your career is your own. They promote it and expect that you will move around as much as you want to. If you take a new job you have to stay in it for year and then you are free to go - anywhere - you can apply for new jobs in any aspect of the company - internal recruiters help hiring managers and employees through the process. You can move anywhere your skills can take you. the company is a pay-for-performance company so they expect that 20% of bonus eligible people which is almost every one do not get bonuses and those who are eligible and are the high performers get an additional amount.

    Cons

If you are a person who wants your manager to give you a promotion, that rarely happens at UHG. Compensation is fair however as you move around your promotional $$ is limited to 10% so incoming hires can make more than those who are moving around in side the company. Benefits are middle of the road - I've seen better and worse.
