I worked at Universal Health Services full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for , benefits, PTO, good pay learned a lot working for the company.

    Cons

When medical records became electronic many jobs are becoming obsolete.

I have been working at Universal Health Services part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Potential for tuition assistance and progressive learning opportunities...IF you have regular access to a computer.

    Cons

Extremely low pay, critically understaffed, so much that positions are overlapping in several areas, making everyone overwhelmed and exhaustively overworked. Meal times are far and few between.... 10-15 minute break...ha, good luck! Opportunity to convert from Per Diem to Part-Time or better, fat chance! Almost seems like they push it as far as they can to avoid paying any benefits. This business would benefit greatly from a union presence, nobody is looking out for the worker bee!! If you're a puppet type personality, this is the place for you. If looking for growth, don't waste your time.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees more, commensurate with the level of work they're doing. If you're crossing two, three and four different roles, the employee should be paid those wage rates when doing those functions. Make cross training, and career growth opportunity more accessible to those that don't see the computer everyday. Highly recommend leadership be sent to interpersonal skills training. There's more to being a leader than just having the word manager in your title.

I have been working at Universal Health Services full-time

    Pros

Offer benefit package, PTO,401K, stock options

    Cons

Severely short staffed, never know what hours or days you are going to work. They pay scale is considerably low compared to some of the other companies and in addition they have a cap on the hourly wage employees.

    Advice to Management

Take into consideration the recommendations of your staff. Adding more staff will result in happier employees,
     & happier patients.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Universal Health Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy hire because they don't really care who they employ within their unit. Especially SMTC.

    Cons

No experience, high turnover rate, SMTC is ran by nurses, no order or structure.

    Advice to Management

Manage and learn the position just as much as any other so when there's conflict you know what they're talking about and how to resolve it.

I have been working at Universal Health Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benifits, good learning experience for most.

    Cons

This is not a good place for new grads. Please go to acute care hospital first for a year. Management tends to try to cater to the newer nurses, even though those hired for their experience, are over looked for supervisory positions.

I have been working at Universal Health Services part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This hospital has a good sense of team work.

    Cons

Occasional low census. When this happens they send home employees.

    Advice to Management

Keep census up so employees do not lose pay.

I have been working at Universal Health Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

PTO is the only good thing

    Cons

To many 2 count... I would rather fall on a rusty butcher knife than go to work for UHS

    Advice to Management

Learn how to treat people...and you wonder why there is such a high turn over... This company basically sucks....

    Pros

The company is stable and offers opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

The shifts are entirely too long, creating the opportunity for medical errors.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff and go to 8 and/or 10 hour shifts.
