I have been working at Universal Health Services (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Independent working, company offers good quality benefits, medical, dental, and vision.

    Cons

    Lackage of opportunities for advancement.

    Advice to Management

For a profitable company, a profit sharing program for all employees, not just the miller family, and people who report to the millers directly. Many out side job seekers are looking for pay for performance perks.

    Pros

If you're looking for an opportunity to grow while helping other people; this is the place. The people are amazing! Opportunities to learn multiple populations.

    Cons

Being PRN can equate to full-time employment without benefits. Technicians love the company and spots fill-up quick. Some policies create unnecessary steps and delay care to patients.

    Advice to Management

Slow & Steady wins the race.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Universal Health Services part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good team, work together, get to do a variety of work, regardless of your profession

    Cons

This is a for profit system and mental health and substance use treatment is very challenging

    Advice to Management

Ask the people who do the work before you put procedures in place

I worked at Universal Health Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible work hours and scheduling. It worked well with my degree pursuit. They also have a work study program for nurses to get their nursing education.

    Cons

Occasionally disorganized management, out of ratio staffing, and the pay for MHT's, while competitive and often better than many facilities in the area, it could be better. The health insurance could be cheaper as well.

    Advice to Management

    Raise MHT pay.

I have been working at Universal Health Services part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Very hands-on experience with patients
-Pay for certifications related to the job, physicals, etc.
-Sense of comradery amongst floor coworkers
-Work/life balance if you're lucky enough to land morning shifts (each are 8 hours)
-Working with Patients can be rewarding if you get a good group

    Cons

-Complete separation between floor and higher-up positions; I can't name anyone in the front office except the HR department, and that even takes thought
-A&R takes in patients that we are not trained to treat (countless children afflicted with difficulties in daily functioning, dangerous and aggressive behaviors, other short stays for money grabs)
-Extreme ratios of patients to staff, two techs can be in charge of 13 patients EACH at times depending on how many people A&R could rake in after discharges
-Because of the above two, patients can be both hostile and rude which can make the workplace dangerous; supervisors can be hesitant to restrain (physical holds, no artificial restraints) aggressive patients that should not have been placed in hospital in the first place, which results in worker injuries at times.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to take in patients with autism or are in transition to juvenile, train us or let us know in orientation rather than just taking in every possible patient to fill beds for money

    Pros

The pay is competitive and health care is of course fast passed. Great insurance and other benefits

    Cons

It's a huge corporation so they cut corns where they can. Staffing technology being the biggest turnover has been really high so you never have stable conworkers

    Advice to Management

    Invest in more technology
