I have been working at Universal Logistics Holdings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent facilities, friendly people, excellent pay (if you negotiate properly), convenient location.

    Cons

Bad area, poor benefits, long hours, off-shift schedule, have to work most holidays.

    Advice to Management

Try not to treat employees as the enemy. A solid management system can allow subordinates to thrive. Poor management makes people want to leave.

I have been working at Universal Logistics Holdings full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent paycheck so far but you gotta hustle. Takes a while to get in the routine of how things work. I'm staying positive about everything.

    Cons

Long hours. Trucks need a little love and maintenance. Insurance is a company I've never heard of. But I'm willing to see what they offer.

    Advice to Management

    Easy to communicate with.

    Pros

You do not need a degree for most positions and they pay pretty good. They also like to promote from within. Good opportunities to move to different departments to build up your resume.

    Cons

Morale is only starting to become better, but its not great yet. Its mostly due to lack of vacation time, holidays off, and they refuse to allow direct deposit.

I worked at Universal Logistics Holdings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The day-to-day responsibilities of the job were not challenging, and there wasn't too much down-town where you were waiting for something to do. The pay was fair.

    Cons

There is a lot of information to learn, so be patient because the repetition of everything you do will cement it all in your brain. Phone calls from clients could be stressful if they were not happy with their service. This was about 50-60% of the time.

    Advice to Management

There was a lot of employee turnover when I worked there, so maybe there could be more perks for employees to keep morale up and people staying in their positions.

    Pros

The employees are laid back and are generally pleasant to work with as well as the parent company in Michigan.

    Cons

One major downside is that you are on call once a week every three or four weeks where you can be reached 24/7.

    Advice to Management

Overall you do a great job. One thing I would change is the amount of second chances some driver's and agents receive.

    Pros

Opportunity to excel, learn and better your self if you really try. Super laid back office environment which can be good at times.

    Cons

Benefits aren't the greatest. Drivers can be tough to deal with but that's a given. Work/life balance can be challenging especially with all that needs to be done sometimes within what can be a very distracting office environment.

    Advice to Management

Implement better/consistent processes from start to finish to identify keys to success. Some of the tools used for this job our super outdated and could really leverage the use of new technology to make improvements.
