I worked at Universal Orlando Resort full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent perks and benefits. Team Member discounts and activities are a really lovely.

    Cons

Salary is a joke at all levels. Speaking to attractions specifically - moving up the ladder is nearly impossible for the average team member. It can take literal years to climb to a basic entry-level management position. It's a joke. Over-qualified, excellent team members are not given the opportunities they deserve to succeed.

    Advice to Management

Get off your personal cell phones (no, snapchat is not an appropriate use of company time) and pay more attention to your team.

I have been working at Universal Orlando Resort part-time

    Pros

The work culture at Universal is unlike any I've experienced before. Co-workers and leads are generally awesome people to work with, and there's not too much drama that happens unless you're the one at the center of it *wink*

Don't get me started on the benefits either: access to the parks, 30% off UO merchandise(50% during holidays!), the opportunity to see the parks inner workings, and the ability to move up and around the company is seemingly easy - but you HAVE to want it!

    Cons

Putting this first because it's the most troubling of all: don't expect all of your supervisors to be the friendliest people. I would say 3/4 of the supervisors & higher-ups are genuinely amazing people who uphold the Universal Way - the other 1/4? You can literally smile & wave at them, and they'll walk right past you or giving you the most deadpan response, or have no interest in building any sort of professional/workplace relationship with you, and have no problem either treating you like you're beneath them or just being genuinely unfriendly to you. Besides that, the rest are some of the best workplace supervisors you will ever have.

As an Event Guide - do NOT expect to rely on Universal as your main source of income or hours. You will most likely not be scheduled very many hours and will have to pick up as many shifts as you possibly can to meet whatever your own personal hourly requirements are.

There is A LOT of physical labor and exposure to the sun involved in this position, and some shifts you may just be standing around a lot. Be very aware that this job as the capacity to be exciting & fun, as well as stressful & mind-numbingly boring.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your supervisors and allow to air any improvements or concerns they may have. Additionally, review the Universal Way with them.

  6. "Good Company to Start to Grow"

I worked at Universal Orlando Resort full-time

    Pros

This company is growing with new projects so the opportunity of growth is there. Also the perks of going to the parks but not only Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure you also have the opportunity to visit Sea World and Busch Gardens. May I also include Halloween Horror Nights!!!!!

    Cons

I can say it is a con if you don't understand the hospitality industry where the company is open 365 days a years 7 days a week!!!!!! Also that sometimes you will have angry guests but if you understand this part of the job then you will be good. Last con is depending where you work the pay could be better.
