    Pros

I worked with a great team in the park, with busy months over summer break and fewer hours during school semesters.

    Cons

Pay is low, that's the nature of the job. Only those in the corporate offices and leadership make enough to really make a living. But if you're in school, it will help pay the bills.

I have been working at Universal Orlando Resort part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As a part time (Casual) employee I believe the perks are the best part. I do not see any reason why someone would be unsatisfied with the amount of tickets and discounts we get working here. They truly celebrate the team at Universal and you will always feel like you're being recognized.

    Cons

They force the Diversity and Inclusion a little too much for me, personally. I am more of a person who feels that we don't have to broadcast that we except everyone for their differences. We are all humans but it gets uncomfortable at times. The point system also doesn't truly reflect the team members reliability.

    Advice to Management

Management can often times be more about the numbers and lack in team member focus.

I worked at Universal Orlando Resort full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They are able to work with your schedule, especially if you are going to school. It is a great place to start if wanting to be in the hospitality industry. The perks that are offered for being employed there are nice.

    Cons

Some of the special events that take place can be very long hours and the some of the guest can be a bit out of hand.

I have been working at Universal Orlando Resort part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company cares, transfer opportunities, employee perks (free admission, no block-out dates), chances to work some incredible events, feeling of open communication with everyone, chance to interact with excited guests and make people happy.

    Cons

Some difficult employee systems in place, supervisors sometimes non-responsive, dealing with rude guests

    Advice to Management

If supervisors are too busy, might I suggest a new position of point of contact that can funnel employee requests and concerns?

I have been working at Universal Orlando Resort full-time

    Pros

Management and peers seem to genuinely care about the same goal of becoming the world's No.1 Theme Park Destination. The Team (mine is Entrance Operations) are supportive of each other (not competitive) and look out for each other too. A true family atmosphere - this is a huge organization that, for the most part, acts like a family run business and tries its best to treat you as family.

    Cons

As with all larger organizations, it can take a long time for change to take effect. Also, it takes an extended period of time to learn the culture and layout of the property - this is an immense and sometimes overwhelming place - although a strong orientation process helps to make it as smooth as possible. People are very friendly to newcomers as Universal is not a seniority-based company, so newcomers are never a "threat" to the veterans.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doing. Listening and informing with equal measure. And please know how much it is appreciated that the President and COO will regularly wander into the grill for lunch, sit with you right at your table, and discuss whatever you want, in detail, like the true fellow Team Member that he is. This is an awesome place to work - and it will absolutely stay that way if management keeps its current vision in focus.
