I worked at UniversalPegasus International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great starting pay, until times get a little lean and then they cut benefits and then your pay

    Cons

Very poor communication. Upper management appeared to be in over their head and some have lost their jobs since then. Held onto too many people that brought no value to the company while good people were getting laid off everyday.

    Advice to Management

Cut your pay and get rid of your buddies instead of cutting good hard working people.

    Pros

nothing to talk about, everything in cons.

    Cons

management is clueless, few in management dont even have any engineering or industry background. No procedures on place, all work done is manually in excel files. Lot of deadweight in manager positions stealing workers billable time. stay away as far as possible. Not to mention, this company has less than 2 weeks of work in hand.

company has no 401k match, only 2 weeks of pto time, no merits anymore, no promotions and more.

    Advice to Management

    get a grip or go.

I worked at UniversalPegasus International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great office location, big offices, private covered parking. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet at least at the UPI office. Compensation was great and above market. Bonus plan was generous.

    Cons

This is not the same company after the acquisition two years ago. Lots of people myself included thought we would retire at UPI. Layoffs are mandated on a quarterly basis and come when you least expect it. Local management doesn't exist any longer, the parent company is running the show and knows nothing about the oil and gas industry. I've been in O&G my entire life. Downturns happen and you have to wait them out. You can't do anything about it. Things always bounce back.

    Advice to Management

You no longer have the best people in charge. Focus on taking care of the little people. The Houston office is decorated with pictures of employees that have been laid off. Before I left I asked that all of the pictures that had me in them be removed. I was told as of yesterday this still hasn't happened.

I worked at UniversalPegasus International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gained experience in many different departments. Met and worked with some awesome people that were both talented in their fields and enjoyable to work with.

    Cons

Management either lies to your face or is really out of touch/uninformed with employees and projects. Obvious favoritism with laced with heavy office politics.

    Advice to Management

Bring in outside management for at least an evaluation and outside perspective/ recommendation.

    Pros

Good people in my group, decent base pay, that is about it.

    Cons

Nose dive in benefits over last 3 years, no training whatsoever, groups do not work well together, ridiculous safety emails that have nothing to do with the industry and contributes nothing to safety culture, "do not use electric near bathtub" type of stupidity.

Business development people are ineffective and seem to rely on others to do their work. Team effort is great, responsibility needs to reside with that group. Too many on staff and too many are ineffective. If we are not getting work, why are the business managers not being let go???

In the last two years, if your over 55 you had better have your resume current. Many senior and experienced personnel "retired". Talk about a brain drain and is not exactly motivating to your staff. Seems to be some age discrimination here.

Cronism. If you don't belong to the club your an outsider and only a number.

Benefits have been reduced dramatically, no bonus, no yearly increase this year apparently. Of course there is no communication in detail about any of this. Or with general company operations for that matter.

    Advice to Management

Value your people above the bottom line, invest in them regardless of the circumstances.

Maybe fire those who are charged with getting work rather than those who execute it if your always complaining about the lack of work? Just a thought...Stop burdening your other groups with their responsibility.
