I worked at UniversalPegasus International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great starting pay, until times get a little lean and then they cut benefits and then your pay

    Cons

Very poor communication. Upper management appeared to be in over their head and some have lost their jobs since then. Held onto too many people that brought no value to the company while good people were getting laid off everyday.

    Advice to Management

Cut your pay and get rid of your buddies instead of cutting good hard working people.

I have been working at UniversalPegasus International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

nothing to talk about, everything in cons.

    Cons

management is clueless, few in management dont even have any engineering or industry background. No procedures on place, all work done is manually in excel files. Lot of deadweight in manager positions stealing workers billable time. stay away as far as possible. Not to mention, this company has less than 2 weeks of work in hand.

company has no 401k match, only 2 weeks of pto time, no merits anymore, no promotions and more.

    Advice to Management

    get a grip or go.

I worked at UniversalPegasus International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great office location, big offices, private covered parking. Some of the nicest people you will ever meet at least at the UPI office. Compensation was great and above market. Bonus plan was generous.

    Cons

This is not the same company after the acquisition two years ago. Lots of people myself included thought we would retire at UPI. Layoffs are mandated on a quarterly basis and come when you least expect it. Local management doesn't exist any longer, the parent company is running the show and knows nothing about the oil and gas industry. I've been in O&G my entire life. Downturns happen and you have to wait them out. You can't do anything about it. Things always bounce back.

    Advice to Management

You no longer have the best people in charge. Focus on taking care of the little people. The Houston office is decorated with pictures of employees that have been laid off. Before I left I asked that all of the pictures that had me in them be removed. I was told as of yesterday this still hasn't happened.

    Pros

Team members were great people to work with.

    Cons

UPI has difficulty maintaining clients. Returns are what help build a foundation. Listening to PMs feedback who ARE the voice of the customer must be integrated into execution. This is NOT done.

    Advice to Management

PMs are you customer. PMs drive the clients needs. SR management should do everything to ensure the PM is treated as the client since it is the PM ensuring the clients are successful.

    Pros

Lately None. All good stuff has already been taken away.

    Cons

Over last 1 year.. company has laid off almost 80% of work force. Bad part about this is, all working engineers are gone, all managers are still enjoying lavish life in company. Its hard for me to understand how a department of 3 engineers can have 4-5 managers.

No 401k, PTO time anymore. All you get is 40hrs a year thats all. All of that is forced to use in Xmas time. So there is almost no PTO entire year.

No Training for employees, management rather likes to spend money on so called managers meeting lunches.

As of now company has "0" work backlog.

    Advice to Management

Re-think your management style. No fun making UPI look like Jacobs, clearly you are not succeeding.
