    Pros

Benefits are good, including financial aid for children who wish to pursue their studies within the University. Good underlying philosophy but its implementation varies according to academic units.

    Cons

Below average salaries for full time academics. Temporary hiring can be extended for along time, with little to no opportunity to be incorporated permanently.

    Pros

Great work environment, excellent opportunities to grow professionally inside the university and a relaxed and amazing campus with lots of green areas.

    Cons

Not always success from people is determined by personal abilities, skills or completed objectives but from political and personal relationships with important people in the organization

I have been working at Universidad Javeriana full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good general benefits (higher than the market),Direct compensation is standard for low academic ranks. Beautiful campus.
Very respectful culture (good relations across all hierarchical levels)
For local-regional research: good resources: library, databases, financial aid (university grants), support for international conferences.

    Cons

Direct compensation is bellow market for higher academic ranks.
The organizational culture is not well-oriented to high-level research: teaching load is high (at least 9 hours), not enough MSc, or PhD programs. Potential master or doctoral students consider other options before Javeriana (Andes, Nacional).

    Advice to Management

Improve direct compensation system for academics. Improve research-oriented culture.

    Pros

I believe Javeriana is a fantastic place to work for. When you are there around all those people usually friendly and kind in a place that beautiful you can easily dream to have a long professional career there. Without any doubt the best the university have to offer is the potential of the students characterized by strong values and solid academic backgrounds.

The ugly aspects about working at Javeriana University are the bureaucracy at management levels and the low competitiveness of their salaries.

The colleuges are friendly and willing to help you, you have benefits that come with working in the univeristy (vacatons, spring break)
