I worked at Université de Genève part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Independent working, flexible times. Good human relations between co-workers. In general a respectful environment

    Cons

in my case it was a highly competitive environment, quite stressful. However It doesn't need to be the same for every dept/lab in the university

    Advice to Management

there are already on going analysis performed internally for stress levels between employees. Keep on going.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Université de Genève full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

International city. In Switzerland. Location close to lake, mountains etc.
The working atmosphere is pretty good in between colleges. No real competition in between phd s. No clear rules to obtain phd ...

    Cons

The salary is low in comparison to excessive cost of living. Phd candidates are not considered. Phd has the lowest statut in the university people without education (master or bachelor) are better considerate (salary, working contract, rules etc). No clear rules for professor to take a phd so you might end up with part time contract for full teaching hours and end up doing your phd in your free time.
No clear view of future. No phd training for job outside academia. Funding is getting lower in switzerland but still ok now.

    Advice to Management

Consider better the status of phds. After all they are the working hands of the university and help to the visibility of the university through there scientific publications. Try to stick to your own rules !

I have been working at Université de Genève part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

flexibility at working hours, interesting job, contact to clever people contact to young people, learn a lot, good environment, nice colleagues

    Cons

work on my own, sometimes boring, sometimes tiring, sometimes do not proceed as I would like to, sometimes too much work to be done at once

    Advice to Management

Make better use of the software which is there for students, as we do not even know how to work with the scientific databases.
