I have been working at University College Cork full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Coworkers are amazing: fun, adventurous, brilliant people.

    Cons

The college is actively trying to mess people about.
Almost impossible to get a fixed contract.
Pay is never what you would expect.
They canned our IT department. At an off-campus research facility that relies HEAVILY on computing. Decisions like this show they really have no interest in us succeeding.

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff like you actually value them and want them to stay. Provide proper institutional funding to the MaREI centre so it can do the best research possible without being unnecessarily constrained.

I have been working at University College Cork (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great facility and flexible timing

    Cons

At some point many specific personnel in the group left all together leaving us understaffed and not supervised, but the management (of my group) didn't react accordingly

I have been working at University College Cork full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked for 3 years in UCC as a Ph.D. student, and I found the atmosphere and the resources that the campus has to offer to be quite good.

    Cons

You are expected to carry out quite a bit of extra curricular work as a Ph.D. student, although this was the main downside I found.

    Advice to Management

There were not many facilites available to graduate students, this could potentially be improved
